I don't think the greater Houston area will see anything in the way of freezing rain. I think the precip will end before the temperature drops below 32. The NWS put that mention of freezing rain just in case the precip lasts longer than expected.

I just don't see any moisture whatsoever behind the front. There is the chance of some wraparound moisture but I just don't see it. I don't know how much precip in the form of rain we will even see (not saying much was forecasted though). I agree with Wxman looks to me like we won't see much in the form (if any) of wintry percip.

There just isn't anything to produce much lifting behind the front, so all we see is a bit of mist/light drizzle as the much colder and drier air blasts in. Houston may drop to 32 by early this afternoon (1pm or so).

Here in NW Austin, TX DOT is closing 183 both directions (between McNeil and Toll 45) due to icing (Fox 7 just reported). There have been many accidents, but nothing compared to last week. I slipped twice on my way to work this morning. Thankfully the icing on the road isn't solid, so able to gain traction fairly easily again. The big problems are elevated surfaces.

At one point this morning, traffic was backed up from McNeil all the way up to Cedar Park's Buttercup Creek subdivision.

Not much at all (1-2 degrees). Colder air is lagging behind just a bit. Brenham is in the upper 20's/low 30's. Hempstead has dropped to the upper 30's as well, so it's marching SE.

Just my humble opinion, but I am thinking (hoping..LOL) that we will be ok. I am not seeing the moisture from the wrap around and the wind should dry things out for rush hour traffic. I am just hoping.

It must've passed through Cypress then too. I don't get off work until about 2...so I'm a little worried. What do y'all think?
