Here is the size of tropical storms and hurricanes right before landfall on Upper Texas Coast from 1989 to today. They are based on the Best Track data and I averaged the size out for tropical storm and hurricane force winds.

For example:
Ike
TS
225 200 125 125 168.75=Average

Hurricane
110 90 55 45 75=Average

I also did radius of outer closed isobar (ROCI) of Upper Texas Coast storms before landfall. Same source as the size. All of them are in nautical miles.

Note, there is nothing on TS Dean of 1995 because there was nothing for it at the Best Track. Erin and Ivan made landfall as tropical depressions.

As you can see, the largest tropical cyclone to make landfall is Ike.

I wanted to do all storms from 1870 to present, but the data for them is suspect from 1851 to 1987.
