Read carefully:

I KNOW IT WAS A TIE, THAT WAS MY POINT!

I was happy that the city (via official IAH) avoided setting A NEW ALL-TIME RECORD, as this day could very easily have done so. It was YET ANOTHER CLOSE CALL, just like with the ending of the 100°F streak on Tuesday with cloud cover from TS Harold.

.01 rain at IAH as of now, also breaking the rainless streak.

In contrast, the daily records don't have any meaning for me. And I know much of the day/summer was disgusting, which is why I specifically emphasized my happiness regarding THE END TO THIS DAY: especially with the significant storms that blew through Central Houston (as well as other members for this board).

Thunder and wind all around, but not a drop fell from the sky at my casa. Haven't had any rain in 31 days, and counting.

Hell I hadn’t had any rain in nearly 90 days till I finally got some on Tuesday.

Big amounts of activity depicted on the FV3 mesocale for Friday evening. Not near as much on the HRRR, however.

We finally got a decent 30 min rain yesterday. I'm guessing 1/4" or so.

Sunday is looking to be another ridiculously hot day, putting the all-time record high of 109°F at Bush in jeopardy.

Rain chances look decent in the models, fingers crossed

Could be another close one. Sunday definitely will be the hottest day of this Fri-Sun weekend period.

However, the forecasted heights are not as strong as what happened yesterday (more like 588-591dm vs 594+). Most likely it must be some type of "compressional setup" ahead of a frontal boundary: so what happens exactly would depend on the exact position of said boundary, including convection produced (the models that are hotter produce much less than those that are wetter).

Also, mesocales are showing good chances to score more storms for the area today and Saturday. Bigger storms would help regarding soil moisture.

I hope Brazoria County gets something today. We didn't get jack yesterday.

Pretty much. NOAA is still teasing with 98°F and 99°F highs a week out.

I'll believe it when I see it.

Must feed and water thirsty trees extra this afternoon.

Any popcorn today or was that a weak front passing through last night firing those storms up.

A few quick-moving shortwaves in the upper flow. We’ll have a similar pattern today and tomorrow with some storms popping-up in the heat.

Storms at the Sabine, but pretty far north. Will be amazed if they make it all the way down here in time.

IAH peaked at 102°F today. Hobby 100°F. At least from what I see (as there might be some intra-period observations).

Far cry from yesterday. I'm not sure regarding the exact weather pattern that made it so hot yesterday: especially since the bulk of the ridge of to our north. Maybe 850mbs, but even that has inconsistencies regarding highs that happened in Houston yesterday vs some areas farther north in the warmest of those pressure level anomalies.

The GFS keeps at least a chance for scattered storm’s throughout the next 10 days with a weakened ridge off to our west, fingers crossed🤞🤞🤞
