Insane that Texas has winter watches all the way down the coast into south texas but Jefferson and Orange counties are not included, but Louisiana is all the way to the coast across the border.

Never understood coastal people expecting what inland counties get. That’s not the norm, at all. The chances of winter precip increase by factors as you go north from the coast.

This has always been the case. Yes, there are the rare storms that get ya, but I probably have 10x-20x the winter encounters over the last 20 years than Matagorda, Brazoria and Galveston have had.

All that is true. I am ready to move from the coastal counties for plenty of other reasons though.

Expensive as hell in my area due to development.
Infrastructure is awful anyways.
Gets just cold enough in the winter to kill tropical plants and potentially mess with pipes.
Blazing hot in the summer with all the humidity and none of the rain.
Hurricanes are a concern every year.

Bottom graphic I would think would warrant Jefferson and orange counties to be included in the weather advisories. But I guess that particular model which has been showing same since last night holds no relevance.

Boy, S2K is pissed about the lack of snow up north. The Euro failed again and greatly overestimated what might fall. I think some areas were suppose to get several inches and they ate barely getting a dusting. Too dry.

Forgive me, I misread the maybe. I will say this. I lived in North Carolina ( Raleigh-Durham) for 11 years. Snow and sleet are easier to drive in than freezing rain. I understand some of the folks want winter weather, and I get that. My area is predicted to have that very mixed bag of frozen P Type. You can have it. Right now, the WWA does not extend into your area, but this forecast is is even changing.

Exactly - it takes very little ice to make driving incredibly treacherous. I grew up in NC (and Chicagoland before that). Those yearly ice storms in North Carolina were more of a problem than typical Chicago winter weather.
