Don't buy it lol atleast not here
Front is over performing if you’re behind it 100 miles. Once it pushes through, you will too.

Weimar was supposed to be 42 today.

I’m not seeing freezing again until Wednesday. Well technically, I won’t see freezing again until Friday as I’m turning right around to fly to KC.
Same here - 26°F currently and holding. I already feel acclimated. I didn't need gloves working outside.

In North Carolina we had a name for this kind of weather: February! 8-)

I'm heading to the store while everyone else heads home to bundle up or watch the Dallas game.

christinac2016 oh it does, with the front over performing, a couple of degrees colder can mean the difference between cold rain and freezing rain, these models calling for 33-35 degrees, thats a razor sharp edge, couple pf degrees colder and you’ll have some ice on the bridges/ overpasses

A couple of degree swing won't mean anything when it's been 55-60 degrees all day. It will take several hours at only 30 degrees to chill surfaces enough for any precipitation to stick and do anything.

As of 18z (latest full 48hr run), the HRRR keeps Houston in the 29-30°F range as the Tuesday morning temps. Lower 20s and teens farther west out in places like College Station and Austin, though.

Sure if you’re talking about your driveway or highway. That’s not the case on overpasses, power lines and trees..

Front passed at daybreak. We are now at 4pm and still a balmy 60 in Beaumont. When is the “push” for the cold air to arrive?

HGX has just updated the winter weather advisory and increased ice accumulation from .5 this morning now to up to .10. I'm not concerned with surface streets in the metro. But overpasses and flyovers ice over much easier.

Snippet from HGX afternoon discussion. They also mention what I said earlier on why temps rose today. Temps will start to fall rapidly over the next few hours.
Elsewhere outside of the Brazos Valley/Piney Woods, temperatures
have been able to rise into the mid 40s to low 50s. This is due to
this morning`s cold front becoming stationary just off of the coast.
This stalled frontal boundary is in the process of transitioning
into a coastal trough
Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Houston/Galveston TX
421 PM CST Sun Jan 14 2024

...New SHORT TERM, LONG TERM, MARINE...

.SHORT TERM...
(This evening through Monday Night)
Issued at 406 PM CST Sun Jan 14 2024

Key Messages:

▶ A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for most of Southeast TX
6pm this evening through 6pm Monday due to periods of freezing rain
and sleet. Total ice accumulations of up to 0.10".
▶ A Wind Chill Advisory will be in effect tonight for portions of
the Brazos Valley/Piney Woods with wind chill values tonight
between 10-15°F.
▶ A Hard Freeze Warning is in effect for portions of the Brazos
Valley/Piney Woods with temperatures tonight dropping to 24°F
or below.
▶ A Hard Freeze Watch is in effect for the remainder of Southeast
TX (except the barrier islands) for Monday/Tuesday night with
temperatures expected to drop into the mid teens to mid 20s.
▶ A Freeze Watch is in effect for the barrier islands for Monday
night due to temperatures falling into the upper 20s along the
coast.
▶ Additional Wind Chill Warnings/Advisories will be needed
Monday night with wind chill values dropping near or below 0°F
for northern areas and widespread single digits/teens elsewhere.
▶ Prolonged periods of subfreezing temperatures are expected
from tonight through late Wednesday morning for northern areas.
▶ Another widespread hard freeze expected Tuesday night. Expect
another round of Hard Freeze Warnings and Wind Chill Advisories.

Got all of that? A cold front pushed through last night/early this
morning and brought in much colder air...but most of that frigidly
cold air is still up in the Brazos Valley where they have been
hovering in the upper 20s to low 30s into the afternoon. Speaking of
them, we have already received a few reports of freezing drizzle and
light sleet around Bryan earlier this afternoon. A couple of those
reports were from mPING...I mentioned this in yesterday`s discussion
that mPING is a great tool to help us out and identify what type of
precipitation is falling in your area. We see your reports on the
map and are greatly appreciative of them! Sunday evening/Monday is
going to be the main window that we`ll need some pings to get an
idea of where the freezing rain/drizzle line is.

Elsewhere outside of the Brazos Valley/Piney Woods, temperatures
have been able to rise into the mid 40s to low 50s. This is due to
this morning`s cold front becoming stationary just off of the coast.
This stalled frontal boundary is in the process of transitioning
into a coastal trough. Essentially, think of it as a boundary for
moisture to collect upon. This increase of moisture combined with
isentropic lift and favorable upper level dynamics (embedded
shortwave aloft and right entrance region of jet streak) equals the
development of precipitation. Precipitable water values (measurement
of moisture) remain around 0.7"-0.9", which is below the 75th
percentile for this time of year (~1.09"). This means that there
isn`t that much moisture in place to get anything heavy to fall, but
just enough for at least some light precipitation. So, we have that
part of the equation solved...next up is the temperatures.

The freezing temperature line sags further southward going into
tonight as moisture steadily rise. All of that moisture will be
relegated to about 1 km above the surface...not quite high/cold
enough for things to start off as snowflakes. The moisture begins in
a layer of well above freezing temperatures (~mid to upper 40s)
before falling into a cold surface layer (below freezing
temperatures) closer to the surface. While light precipitation will
be widespread across the region tonight into Monday, the freezing
rain/drizzle line to be generally along and northwest of a Edna-Bay
City-Richmond-Houston-Liberty line. It`s quite the convoluted
line...which fits because this is a convoluted scenario! That cold
surface layer does gradually deepen over parts of the Brazos
Valley/Piney Woods going into tonight and Monday. The cold surface
layer extends to 2000+ feet in these areas leading to the potential
for sleet to be mixed in. Well more than just a potential...we`ve
already had reports of it. As a result, a Winter Weather Advisory
will be in effect from 6pm this evening - 6pm Monday for most of
Southeast TX. Ice accumulations up to 0.10" are possible (the higher
end of the accumulations are expected over portions of the Piney
Woods), so icy patches on elevated roadways will be the main threat
during this timeframe. Be sure to travel with caution as even a
little bit of ice can create hazardous driving conditions.

It went from the upper 40's to the upper 30's real quick and before the sun fully set!
Wild card blowout weekend is the theme!
They will probably look at interviewing Belichick if McCarthy goes...
