I don’t recall a freeze being in the forecast for this morning. Well definitely not in my area. Nowhere near that.

It was strong enough. We had a low of 24°F Saturday am. The DP was 16°F last night. Only cloud cover prevented another hard freeze.

I don’t recall a freeze being in the forecast for this morning. Well definitely not in my area. Nowhere near that.

We hit 35°F on the nose. The hard freeze was the night before. Everything is brown and dessicated. That is about to change drastically.

Keep in mind this week that "winterized" foliage and ground is going to cause a lot more runoff than in the Spring. This could increase the risk of flash flooding and plain 'ol flooding this week!

...Significant Rainfall Expected Next Week...

Developing southwesterly flow with periodic disturbances will
cause rainfall episodes of moderate to heavy rainfall across the
area next week.

The latest forecast indicate rainfall totals of 5 to 10 inches
through the week with locally higher amounts expected.

In addition to areal flooding, several river locations could
experience significant flooding as well. Current forecast
precipitation values suggest minor to moderate flooding within
many of our river basins across southwest Louisiana and southeast
Texas.

There is still some uncertainty regarding the overall magnitude of
potential flooding and the associated impacts, depending on where
and how often repeating rounds of heaviest rainfall occurs.
Details should become clearer as the event approaches and evolves
through the week.

Because you’re further off to the southwest and just a minor change in the wind trajectory/direction made a difference in dew points.


We had low dew points, in the teens, but the cloud cover and steady winds kept us from dropping too much.

Just had a brief heavy shower move through, tomorrow is gonna be wet. There's also a chance Wednesday could end up wetter than tomorrow.(We'll need to watch where that frontal boundary stalls on Tuesday) But I'm not ready to make that call just yet.

I'm honestly trying to think of any benefit regarding any form of winter freeze/frost. Less pests, I guess?

Otherwise, any temperature below 40°F is totally useless. And even prolonged 40s are less than ideal.

For you. I loathe heat. Yes, I grew up here and worked in it in my youth and played sports, but I loathe it.

I can exercise outside so much more efficiently from 30-60 than I can from 70-100.

I live in rural Texas. I worked outside all day last Monday. You will find me outside for a hour, then in for a while, then outside for a bit, then inside during the Summer.

I’ve set personal bests in 8Ks and 5Ks when the temp is 50 and below. I never have in 70 and above.

Cold air represents fresh air to me. Hot, humid air is disgusting to my breathing and overall comfort.

I also know how to grow a lot of things in cold weather. I can in hot weather too, largely because I have a specific set of skills that many don’t have today in this digital age.

So yeah, if you prefer warmth, I get why you think cold is useless but I can grow, work out, harvest and sustain in any weather, but prefer the refreshing nature of cold.

I also have a thesis, in this modern age, that heat stresses our natural resources far more given population density and the trends our Idiocracy wants to pursue.

65-85 is the zone for me. I could easily move to Hawaii and never complain. The place down in Dunedin is usually in the 70's in winter and low 90's in the summer. That's fine for me as well. I'm getting to where I just can't stand anything over 95 or under about 45. Semi-retiring in Florida will be just fine.

I grew up going to the Florida panhandle. I don’t mind the beach or lake in Summer but prefer the mountains. It’s just simply serene.

50-70 year round with less than 50% humidity and I would be sold. Doubt such a place exists.
