Models are not in agreement about Wednesday storm, CMC and ICON still have an ice storm north of I-10, and the UKMET shows snow accumulation north of I-10 with Wednesdays system. Its going to depend how close or off shore the surface low is. The further away from the coast the colder the air will be,due to a lack of warm nosing. Models have trended further south with Mondays storm, the 12Z EURO now has heavy snow down to the 59 corridor because the surface low is further away from the coast.

Other than a cursory inspection of the medium range guidance for the Tuesday night/Wednesday system, it will take a while for the disturbance way out in the N Pacific to be accurately resolved. Give it until Monday morning for the models begin to converge on a possible solution.

What is that?
Its a band of snow that moves through on the backside of a low due to cold air advection and wrap around moisture.

So the air column is looking better for snow compared to ice for Wednesday as of now? I’ve never learned how to read one of those sounding charts.

It is on the backside of the low, but the front side with most of the precip still looks like either a very cold rain or freezing rain.Unless the Wednesday storm digs more then we could get snow on the front side of the storm also. Which is certainly possible and has been the trend with most storms this season.

So this low that's out in the gulf for Mondays storm..we would need it to be further away from the gulf to get more snow to the coast right? It would pull in more cold air and get ried of the warm nose?

As of right now, yes, and because it’s so far south we would be between the Low and trough creating a possible Blizzard situation

Interesting to note that there is an 8°-12° spread between dew point and air temp around the Metro. Some room for quick cooling as drizzle, precip moves in tonight... besides CAA, etc.
