I don't like the look of the radar right now, im concerned about storm mergers this afternoon as both storm complexes are colliding with each other over the area.

Port Arthur Mid County is flooded. IH-10 Eastbound is completely shutdown between Winnie and Beaumont from being flooded. 17” has fallen in the Winnie Hamshire Fannett area and homes are being flooded now. Pretty much all feeders in Beaumont are under water. Rain has finally slowed here thank goodness but its very concerning knowing we are only at day 1 of this week long event. Local met said he would not be surprised to see local area reaching 2 feet of rain by time this weekend rolls around. Hell, we just about got more than half of that today, so I would have to agree with him. Also concerning seeing Harvey Imelda totals just from a one day system/storm. Things are changing. Gonna be a bumpy ride this week.

WPC has upgraded the eastern half of southeast Texas and southwest Louisiana into a Moderate risk for today.

Excessive Rainfall Discussion
NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD
404 PM EDT Mon May 17 2021

Day 1
Valid 2001Z Mon May 17 2021 - 12Z Tue May 18 2021

...THERE IS A MODERATE RISK OF EXCESSIVE RAINFALL FOR PORTIONS OF
SOUTHEAST TEXAS AND SOUTHWESTERN LOUISIANA...

2000 UTC discussion

Upgraded a portion of the Central Gulf Coast to a Moderate Risk
for ongoing flash flooding as convection continues to impact the
region. Also pulled the Slight Risk to the west in TX. Anticipate
training to continue through the next several hours until the
shortwave and associated surface boundary in central TX helps to
push activity south and east late this afternoon. Additional
rainfall of 3-5 inches in some locations is expected with
scattered to widespread significant flash flooding likely. MPD
#191 has been issued which goes into a bit more detail regarding
the mesoscale features and evolution through the next several
hours.

A fierce storm in Crosby. Lighting and thunder, strong wind, heavy rains. People starting to put on their four-way flashers in droves. Dunno why people do that, it's distracting and it isn't going to make the rain go away.

Something to keep in mind, a lot of our area right now has saturated grounds so even just 2-3” could cause some flooding issues.

I've already picked up an inch so far here in the heights in just about 25 minutes. Not raining huge drops but just coming down in sheets.

Looks like this line is moving pretty good. Don’t think it’ll cause too many issues unless it starts slowing down.

I don't like how the eastern half of the storm is moving southwest and the western half is moving southeast. What happens where these collide?
