Seems like all the really cold air always goes east instead of straight south...whats the reasoning for this?

I think (if I remember correctly)there’s this thing called a +PNA which sends most of the cold east of us.

Yes, let the cold go east. Or better yet, stay locked up north where it belongs.

What’s the temps like on that cold air for us? Thanks.

And just when it started to feel decent again...another front comes down. At least we have a good shot at some rain today and may even hear some thunder.

I’m from SE Louisiana originally. I just checked the NWS forecast for there and was shocked to see they mention a chance for snow showers on Christmas Eve and Christmas morning!

Haha. They did remove it! Weird though, that that lowered the temps a few degrees, and removed snow showers and replaced it with only showers. I wonder if it’s something they’re on the fence about.

Latest Euro has a light freeze for most of southeast TX Christmas morning. High temps in the 40’s for Christmas Eve.

Any winter lovers better get their wishes satisfied before the true Nina climo kicks in, and destroys any chance of wintry weather (not that I mind, of course).

Did you just make that up to hear yourself talk?

Long range forecasts as of now are showing solid fronts rolling down after the 1st of the year with some storm systems thrown in the mix. I'm liking it.

It's the WINTER SOLSTICE, the shortest day of the year.
It also seems to be one of the most beautiful days of 2020!
Enjoy!

The irony is that this has been the most normal late Fall I can remember in years. Pretty seasonable. Yes, the forecast is a series of fronts as Christmas and the New Year approach.

From the Canadian forecast model (CMC).

It has an epic snowstorm for North Texas on New Year's Eve. The forecast model is subject to change.

Yep, latest CMC keeps frozen precip confined across the panhandle and into Oklahoma. That was a neat fantasy run though.

That's quite a dip! Low 20s in CLL for New Year's Eve.
