You missed it! That was almost a year ago! 12Z GFS doesn't even have any temps in the 30s here through Feb. 10th.

Well I've learned from some local pro met posters that you can't trust the GFS past 4-5 days....

The 12Z Euro suggests another upper low near the 4th of February, but that will be for a new Topic and a different month... ;)

I got roughly 3 at the house.

Gauge nearest my house is one at San Jacinto River Authority and one at 2090 near New Caney. Both had 2.74 and 2.92.

Back to a quiet form for a couple of weeks. Sure was nice to see over 65+ users/guest on here again. Hoping no one received too much damage today whether it was a weak tornado or straight line winds. This was a really great rain maker not just for the Houston area, but for all of Central, Northern, and Eastern, TX. Austin saw about 5 1/2 inches of rain. Here where I am currently living, in San Marcos, about 4.30 inches of rain. Farther south in San Antonio, about 3 inches of rain. Most areas saw easily 1-2 inches of rain. Would be nice if it had rained longer in Western Central parts of TX to raise those lake levels near Austin. Lakes here around the Houston area did well. Lake Livingston and Lake Conroe.

Hope these are signs to come as we slowly fade away from Winter and head into Spring. As Srain mentioned, we're already sniffing out another one of these storms first part of February.

Now, I've got behind a little bit on my reading because of my excitement of these storms coming through, so time to leave the internet world for awhile.

sorry I couldnt post earlier...I did see rotation in one of the unconfirmed twisters here in Huntsville..saw the scud clouds go back up into the rotation. and could hear the low rumbling sounds..needless to say I didnt stick around. I was at work when this happened the home depot (across the interstate from me) had some carports and or storage sheds either flipped or wrapped around power poles..we at my work had two vehicles damaged from a fallen light pole...other then that we got some much needed rainfall ...I did go the skywarn class two weeks ago last night at the walker county storm shelter..I encourage people to go learned a good deal!...very helpful in times we just had!

2.44" here in Beaumont and still counting fast! News reports going out all over of street closures because of flooding. JUST started here at my work in Sabine Pass! I think all the "severe" potential has died from the squall line now. It sucks being the LAST person in the ENTIRE state of Texas to get this system because of it's angle...oh well, it's here now! Wish I was at home to enjoy the 2+ inches!

Ready for the next one!

1.77" in Westbury, making a total of 8.6" for the month.

Here's a link to my intial summary of the Jan 25 "rare" tornado event:http://www.khou.com/community/blogs/new ... 91293.html. Twice in one month is NOT a trend I'd like to see and flies in the face of "La Niña continuing the drought". Anyone have thoughts on THAT? CPC still has us in below normal precip for next 3 months. Hmm...

We had a good soaker today. Areas near Austin saw as much as 9 inches. They should be pleased. 8-)

Not all La Ninas are dry. I have seen dry El Nino winters, like 1987-1988. Some La Nina winters have been quite wet. 1933-1934, 1973-1974, and 2000-2001 were La Nina winters, yet they were average or wetter than average.

Greetings niner21,
