We're getting an outer band and a taste of what many are seeing. E26 G 35-40 Sideways rain.
I'm having class by Zoom. The local schools are closed. TG.
TAMU is still open despite deteriorating conditions. A reminder of why there are Aggie jokes.
Here's one of my favorites: The Texas A&M football team was on the bus from College Station to Tiger Stadium for their yearly match on the gridiron. Back in the day LSU was the first game of the football season. They cross the bridge high over the Mississippi River and continue on I-10 for half a mile until see a sign: LSU left.
...So they turned around and went home! [rimshot]
Thank you very much. I'll be here all week. Don't forget to tip the waitstaff!

Looks like 1.7 million without power according to Centerpoinr. I imagine it will be days to weeks before it comes back for most of us.

Sitting in the dead CoC. Pure calm. That NNE eyewall had a good kick even this far north in the western burbs. Lots of fences and limbs down.

This was an intensifying hurricane at landfall. I’m sure solid Cat 2 damage throughout her path. My neighborhood trees are wrecked. Some have had trees fall onto homes. No injuries that I know of yet.
I’m in League City

We are fine but lots of property damage. I have tons of rows of shingles missing, stripped all the way down to the bare deck. Gutters came loose. Fence is a train wreck. No trees down amazingly. Got wind from the east, then the south, and now west. Was in the 3 sides of the eyeball and never made it to the calm.
About to fire up the generator.

Starting to really crank here. Starting to remind me of Ike conditions. Lost power awhile ago.

The strong gusty winds remind me of IKE. Just lost power at 8:16AM in W League City. Estimated gusts 75-80MPH

Eye going over us in Cypress. Looks like the southern portion of the hurricane might just be windy and not much rain.

Picked up here big time in Beaumont. We are now clocking 50mph gusts. Many in Beaumont are without power now. Rain has been manageable thankfully!

Now to get in line and wait for weeks if not months to get our roof repaired so we can actually sell our home...

Ok. I’m tapping SE Texas/Upper TX coast out for the remainder of hurricane season. Uncle.
