At night the brick and roofs would have cooled faster than the grass. The layers of sleet and ice didn't hurt. All snow now.txsnowmaker wrote: ↑Mon Feb 15, 2021 2:19 am Question — is it normal for snow to accumulate on brick and rooftops but not on grass? Always thought grass was among first surfaces to be coated.

It's 19 degrees now. Mostly snow. Saw a flash of lightning. Watching the stuff moving-in. I thought MontgomeryCountyWx was staying-up all night.

Exactly. Snow is quiet when it falls. It’s extremely peaceful. This is just nothing but a sleet storm.gent500 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 15, 2021 2:30 amNo, that means you’re seeing sleet. If it was snow, it would be uniformly covering the grassy surfaces. I think some people in here are thinking they’re seeing snow when they’re actually seeing extremely tiny sleet pellets. Also if you walk outside and can hear the precip hitting your jacket or other objects, then it’s not snow.txsnowmaker wrote: ↑Mon Feb 15, 2021 2:19 am Question — is it normal for snow to accumulate on brick and rooftops but not on grass? Wall of snow is past Conroe and to North Cleveland, filling in well.

Bright returns overhead = more sleet. Wish it would change to all snow already.

Ugh, I was afraid of that. It's gonna suck if we lose power.

Rolling blackout every 20 mins at BW8/249 N area, even Centerpoint's site was down for a few minutes. Our yard and concrete surfaces are thick with sleet that has been steadily building up since 8pm. The streets are finally quiet, where the surrounding roads would be full of racers and sirens. Even the trains seem to have stopped changing cars for outbound routes.
Haven't heard it this quiet since I was a kid.

Judging by the correlation coefficient on radarscope, looks like everything to the left of the blue line is all snow. I feel confident this will all end in snow and give at least most of us an inch. I agree though, 19° here with heavy sleet is quite annoying.

Rolling blackouts have now have wicked us in College Station. We have 4 more hours of snow. Maybe more if the lingering disturbance in Mexico makes it here.

For as much hype as this has gotten ..from where I am..I'm not overly impressed with it. The guys who got a good amount of snow and sleet might be..but down here it really wasn't worth it
