Step #1 is establishing a snowpack north of us. Patience.

Keep in mind that the high was 77°F on Dec 30, 2020 in College Station...and then we know what happened - two 5 inch snows in CLL in Jan, Feb 2021.

Is the front moving a little quicker? I’m feeling some cooler breezes out here tonight.

Sort of "tongue and cheek," but it was odd last night/early this morning with the cooler feeling air.

Back to normal now. :)

Models backed down on the cold I guess. Not even going to freeze Monday night either. My grass is still green.

Lows go from near 70 to in the 30’s. Yeah, that’s not much of a difference at all.

It could be a 81°F to 38°F drop here. Just had a wind shift to the west, so the FROPA may be approaching early. No surprise.

I'll report tomorrow morning.

So when is the pattern going to change that sends these cold blast more south rather then shunned off to the east?

After the 10/11th of January, pacific blocking pattern is shifting into a significantly more favorable setup for winter across Texas and areas east of the rockies mid january , teleconnections are becoming pretty favorable, its all lined up, and its supported by pretty much every model available

I dont call a few days in the 40's and 50's, then right back to 80 jan 5-6. as "winter".

Then move if you hate it so much. It’s Texas, that’s how it is here. Stop complaining so much.

Cpv17 I mean to be fair, 80’s in the winter is pretty brutal even for texas standards lol, but with what looks to be a potentially exciting and eventually 2nd half of January and potentially going into february , I think a warm up ahead isnt going to be the end of all things

In January, but 80’s are still somewhat common in Texas during December.
