Forecasts have busted before and this won't be the last time. All of the broadcasters last night were making a huge point that this setup was conditional. The real problem is that society has gotten soft and everyone wants to shutdown all activity at the slightest hint of bad weather. In the 80s as a kid, if it stormed while we were at school, we just dealt with it.

It's STILL raining at home apparently according to my wife. Ditch in front of the house is full and there is standing water in my backyard.

Maybe a bit hyperbolic...Bust happen, the weather is very hard to forecast. They weren't forecasting Armageddon, it was a conditional chance of tornadoes. And that's a good thing it didn't happen. Only thing that sucks is the rain was not as widespread because the warm front didn't move pass I-10.

I've picked up about 1" of rain so far.The southeastern half of Harris county has rainfall amounts of 1-3 inches showing in the counties rain gauges, not bad.Though it would have been nice if those rainfall amounts were more widespread across the area. So understand some disappointment in that.

They ( NWS) did mention potential. They also mentioned the variables in which severe could not take place. I think they covered the bases in the write ups

Very glad we had cloud cover this morning resulting in less lift because the shear was in place. Very low clouds were moving rapidly across the sky today. So far a nice 3.14" total since this morning.

jasons2k I never said the threat wasn’t gone, I said the cloud cover and light rain might help add some stability to the atmosphere, im not downplaying anything, im aware of the threat and the dynamics that are there, just hoping we can get things to not go out of hand, it is a serious setup, no doubt about it, im just hoping the forecast doesnt pan out, but hope is a naive thing sometimes

As it turned out, you were right about the cloud cover. My apologies for jumping the gun on that. I really expected some spin-ups despite the lack of cape.
