Continuous evacuations are ongoing in the NW area today
Cypress VFD have evacuated several apartment buildings and an assisted living center.
Kudos to them. They are not revealing the shelter as it is designated for these residents only.
I know the staging area is at a Loews in the area.

This event is a wake up call as to how fast an emergency can occur
and how fast you need to decide what to take, where to go, and where to get your information.
Also, the fact that it takes time for our responders to RESPOND - as they are taxed to the limit also.

With Hurricane season looming- and we still have Spring surprises to get through-
I urge you to take the lessons of those who were caught off guard and plan not to
be caught off guard (as much as Mother Nature will allow) and get that plan going.

I pray for those that are suffering now - to the 6 people who have lost their lives - and
much thanks to those that have stepped up - Houston Proud, indeed.

Well...here we go again this weekend, friends.
Although not the 15-20 inches some received last weekend, it wont take much to flood.
Our ground is saturated and our bayous are just getting back to their banks.
Where will this happen? It's everyone's guess so that's why YOU need to keep an eye to the sky and listen to
weather reports on KHOU and check on this forum.

Rains begin on Friday and go thru Saturday. Please make sure you alert others who may not know.
And be prepared!

Well my friends it's that time a year again when we begin to turn our eyes to the GOM
and plan for Hurricane Season 2016.

No matter the numbers that are being thrown around by experts or weather trolls on social media,
you must remember: IT ONLY TAKES ONE to cause chaos.

The recent flooding brought home the fact that within minutes you may need to leave.

Living an independent life is what people with disabilities and the elderly strive for.
During a disaster, all this could be gone, if you don't plan ahead

NO PLAN IS A BAD PLAN.

It's important that you begin to think about your plan and speak to family and friends about your
decision to either evacuate or stay. Galveston County is a mandatory evacuation zone.

YOU KNOW YOUR DISABILITY BETTER THAN ANYONE ELSE and what it takes to remain as independent as possible
during disasters.

If you are person who is dependent upon electricity to live (that's a good thing) leave the area.
Go to a place outside the strike zone where you know there will be electricity and you wont be compromised.

Begin to write down your plan of action and share it with others.
Where would I go?
Who would I go with ?
How would I get there?
Have I registered with STEAR (211) if I need a ride to the hubs?
Have I registered with the City of Galveston?
Do I know where my hubs are at in Galveston County?
Do I know what I will take with me?
Do I have my medication in a separate zip lock bag?
Do I know where my important papers are?
Am I aware that Texas is a PET FRIENDLY SHELTER STATE?
Did you know that your service dog is counted as a human and CAN NOT be taken away from you?
Do I know what to take if I have to stay in a shelter?

These are questions you need to start thinking about and planning for.
Any help? PM me I'm here to help you.
Just because you're disabled, you don't have to be a victim
