Perhaps IAH will come in at a 'trace' of snow. If it is snowing at my house, Steve's house, the Galleria area and others, then hopefully we can get a flurry to land in the bucket. That will extend our "snow streak" to 4 consecutive years.

Looks like temps are going to bust tonight. I am already down to 30-29 degrees in NW Houston with an expected low of 22. That is impressive for being 4:19pm.

23.6F up here. Clouds are breaking as well. I wonder if my 18F low of last week may be in jeopardy?

I honestly think this will be colder then last week. Tomm night looks bad too.
Here comes the rolling blackouts again. Tomm is going to be a mess especially with ice in people's driveways ditches and the side of the road.
Models have done a TERRIBLE job with this front. Looking at the 12z data set from the Euro it shows temps at the 00z timeframe to be at 1C. Then tonight only getting down to -3.9C. That is going to bust.

We need weather balloons here. It is not that expensive.
I not so sure about the 'not that expensive' part.
Laughs....yeah, but Longview....*Longview* has a balloon.....and we don't.....laughs....but hey. A kabillion dollar budget deficit in the state means we're not gettin' one here any time soon. (still giggling...*Longview* has one....)

The entire area between Fry, Clay, Franz, and the Grand Parkway has been without power for about 2 hours. All the traffic lights at those intersections are out and traffic is really building. My Katy ISD school ended the day without power, wonder if we will have school tomorrow.

Is it from a rolling outage?

I don't think so. We had a couple of power outages last week during the ice, but they were back up and running within 20-30 minutes. The power at school went out about 3:00, flickered a bit, then went off to stay and never came back on. Every traffic light from I-10 to West Little York on Fry is out and traffic is backed up for miles. I saw several accidents too. My normal 15 minute ride turned into a 40 minute ride.
On a good note, I didn't see any ice on the road, but my car door in the school parking lot was frozen shut and had 2 inch icicles on it. The bus ramps were slick and slippery and the buses themselves had ice on the steps to the bus. We had to load kids VERY CAREFULLY.

My poor Date Palm has bit the dust. I nursed it back after last winter, but I fear the worse. Ice today totally collapsed the canopy of that long nurtured plant.

You could still cover your philodendrons with multiple bed sheets, Paul.
