The cap and dry air in the mid levels have eroded somewhat. Don't count your chickens...until they are picked up by 70 mph winds!

The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of
Southeast Texas

* Effective this Thursday night from 745 PM until Midnight CST.

* Primary threats include...
Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph likely
Isolated large hail events to 1 inch in diameter possible
A tornado or two possible

SUMMARY...A line of thunderstorms will spread eastward this evening,
while posing a threat for mainly damaging winds.

The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 50
statute miles north and south of a line from 45 miles south of
Lufkin TX to 45 miles south southwest of College Station TX. For a
complete depiction of the watch see the associated watch outline
update (WOUS64 KWNS WOU8).

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

REMEMBER...A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are
favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.
Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening
weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible
warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce
tornadoes.

At 825 PM CST, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
extending from 6 miles southwest of Hearne to 8 miles northwest of
Caldwell to near Lexington, moving east at 40 mph.

Of course, when you say that, you get clapped with the line of storms.

We have tacos.

Linear winds and actual rain. Not too bad so far.

The cold air has caught up with the line, so the severe threat is *probably* over.

I'd expect a broken line of storms moving east - good for the plants.

The trees are budding and leaves emerging nearly a month ahead of next year.

Yep just as expected. The GFS has been pretty consistent on a stormy pattern starting towards the middle of the month,we shall see.

It's raining here. Pretty hard.

Unfortunately, there's an outflow starting. It may run out of gas west of Katy. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you all.

Line is starting to fizzle, right on cue.

Yep. Big old nothin burger for south of I10, maybe even all of our area based on radar. I don't understand how it can be so humid for a month, and when a front finally comes again there is no rain.

But it wasn't the cap, as mid levels were increasing in moisture. The cold front took the legs out of the southern portion of the line, and generated an outflow. It will take until tomorrow for the line to reform in the warm sector.

Great, about to get a pile of yard debris for maybe 2 drops if anything.

Got 30 minutes of rain without any hail or wind damage, so today was pretty good to me.

Driveway didn't even get damp here. What a joke.

Nothing here. So much for that 80% chance if rain. My weather app never got over 30% (most of the time it was 0%)
