When does it come out?

Kingwood, who knows!!! Just plan on going to work tomorrow, and if something changes then it won't be a disappointment! That's how I'm approaching it for myself going to work later this afternoon.

Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Houston/Galveston TX
1211 PM CST Thu Feb 3 2022

.AVIATION [18Z TAF ISSUANCE]...

A mix of IFR and MVFR ceilings will prevail this afternoon and
tonight in the wake of last night`s strong cold front. A large
band of precipitation moving in from Central TX has produced a
mix of RA/FZRA/PL/SN as it tracks into the CWA. Have added the
mention of FZRA/PL in for terminals from CXO northward through
the afternoon...RA/PL for the rest of the sites southward (ex-
cept for GLS) for late afternoon/early evening. The mention of
FZRA may need to be adjusted into the Houston area airports if
temperatures are colder. All of this precipitation is forecast
to end from the W/NW tonight...possibly lingering at the coast
into the early morning hours tomorrow/Fri. As the deep surface
high builds down into the state, clearing skies and decreasing
winds are expected by tomorrow morning

Everyone posting snow pictures on social media. It's just grey and cold in our area. Not surprised.

From Travis herzog

Says we have "2 more rounds of precipitation"

1PM Thursday Update:

We are cautiously optimistic most Houston bridges and overpasses will remain ice-free overnight, but concern for icing increases the farther north and west you go from downtown.

Thanks to a big break in the rain over the last several hours, the dry wind has been able to evaporate most of the water that fell on local roadways last night. Most of us are still well above freezing, but the freeze line is now in Southeast Texas about 60 miles northwest of Houston. Freezing rain and sleet are being reported in places like College Station and Brenham. The freeze line is on track to reach the western half of Houston and Harris County by 6PM.

We still have two more rounds of precipitation to get through, one this evening and one Friday morning, and both could potentially bring light accumulations of ice to local bridges and overpasses. The overall risk of icing in Houston is low, but we do expect some icy patches to pop up overnight. It would be best to avoid traveling over any bridges or overpasses if you can avoid doing so tonight, especially where the Winter Storm Warning is in effect in Brazos, Grimes, and Washington Counties.

Whether or not any ice accumulates where you live, we have high confidence that it will be dangerously cold overnight for people, pets, and livestock that are outside. Wind chill readings will drop into the single digits and teens. Make sure everyone has a warm place to sleep tonight.

A hard freeze is also possible in the counties north and west of Harris County, and with temperatures dropping into the low 20s, outdoor exposed pipes are at risk of freezing and bursting. Wrap them up and drain all hoses and irrigation systems.

Again, this arctic front isn't nearly as severe as last year's, but it still warrants taking some precautions and staying weather aware. We will continue to help you do both by bringing you live updates on TV and our 24/7 streaming channel as conditions warrant.

I'll post again later this afternoon or evening.
