The convective complex over Central and N Central Texas should continue to weaken and move SE during the morning hours. Showers and storms are developing along the Middle Texas Coast in Calhoun, Jackson and Matagorda and Western Brazoria Counties as the sea breeze develops. Boundaries may collide later in the early afternoon hours increasing the chance for areal storm coverage, some possibly severe. Keep an eye to the sky if you have outdoor plans later today.

Hope all went well at Graduation this evening. I graduated from Deer Park High School in 2011 at our football stadium where it is held every year. When I graduated on June 3, 2011 there wasn't a cloud in the sky and it was a hot, muggy 90+ degrees outside and that was with it being 7pm. I have three older brothers who all graduated from DP as well outside. 2004, 2005 and 2008 were dry as well for those ceremonies. And I don't recall there being any rain in the 06, 07, 09, 10 ceremonies either. I know all schools have different graduation days, but luckily, Deer Park's graduations have been lucky when it comes to rain. Heat, not so much. However, Deer Park's graduation this week was scheduled for Thursday, but due to the severe weather, it got postponed to Friday. If weather didn't cooperate then, it would have to be moved inside the school in a gym. If that were to happen, only two people per student are invited (mom and dad usually). There would have been a lot of upset, disappointed folks if that were to happen. DPISD is a very large district. Each graduation class is near or above 1,000 students.

Anyway, depending on the district, I'm sure graduations have to be held outside depending on size of the class and all the relatives and friends that attend. Small towns usually have graduations inside.
Until about six years ago the Clear Creek HS graduations were held at U of H..cannot remember the building. Not sure why that changed.

It turned out to be a beautiful evening and a wonderful ceremony. Laughter, tears, reflection, and a sense that this group of kids take the fact that they are the first graduating class of their school to heart.

The 12Z GFS and HRRR continue to do rather well with the storms expected today. The NAM has been clueless and remains dry.

Hearing lots of thunder in Stafford, and it's very windy. Interesting to watch the dark clouds moving, while there are bright skies on the edge of the dark clouds.

It's raining, but not getting much. With all the activity and noise you would think it would be pouring.

why is everyone talking about this so called ridge? why do these ridges bring so much heat and misery and lack of rainfall to houston in summer? with all the humidity and the heat, storms should happen every day. even in the desert sw, they can get more rain in summer than houston does. whats the deal with these cockroach ridges?

I'm not so sure this 'so called' much talked about heat ridge will be anything other than a transient feature. The GFS Ensembles continue to advertise a trough developing to our W and potential tropical troubles brewing in the Western Gulf early next week. We will see.

Even the 12Z Euro breaks down this transient ridge and a deep trough develops to our W. The Euro also suggests lower pressures across the Western Caribbean late next weekend and develops an area of disturbed weather near the Yucatan.
