Our precip here in Beaumont keeps backbuilding and is still sleeting!! Its not light sleet either! Also looks to be back building to the west of Beaumont, North of Houston and looks to be getting stronger. Looks like BPT has a training effect that wont let up.

Update from Jeff:

Precipitation slowly ending from north to south across the region.

Temperatures remain below freezing at all locations where precipitation continues to fall (mainly south of a line from Columbus to Conroe). North of this line breaks in the cloud cover have allowed temperatures to recover into the mid and upper 30’s (39 at Crockett and 35 at College Station). Suspect most areas north of I-10 will rise above freezing by 300pm and likely remain above freezing until around 700pm. Combination of very dry air and gusty north winds will effective dry roadway surface once temperatures can breach the freezing mark. Combination of effective anti-ice treatments today have really kept any road icing to isolated spots.

Temperatures will quickly fall this evening back below freezing and any residual water left on any roadways including surface streets will likely freeze…so use extreme caution traveling tonight and into Wednesday morning.

Lows tonight will range from the lower 20’s north of HWY 105 to mid 20’s along and north of US 59 to the upper 20’s along the coast. Could see some locations reaching hard freeze criteria tonight or 25 degrees or lower for 2 hours or greater.

Temperatures should rise above freezing tomorrow around 900am ending this bout of winter weather for the region.

Note: conditions just east of the area in Beaumont eastward into Louisiana are extremely dangerous with numerous roadways covered in ice/sleet/snow. Travel eastward of Winnie is hazardous and not recommended and will remain this way for most of the night.

OVERPASSES. TEMPERATURES ACROSS THE SOUTHERN HALF OF THE AREA
RANGED FROM 32 TO 34 ALONG THE COAST AT 3 PM AND INLAND FROM 33 TO
30. TEMPERATURES SHOULD CONTINUE TO FALL THIS EVENING AND ACROSS
ALL OF SOUTHEAST TEXAS...TEMPERATURES ACROSS ALL OF SOUTHEAST
TEXAS BUT THE IMMEDIATE COAST SHOULD BE AT OR BELOW 31 DEGREES AND

LEAST AMOUNTS OF ICE AND LIKELY JUST IN WIND PROTECTED LOW LYING
AREAS. HARD FREEZE CONDITIONS WILL BE LIKELY OVER THESE AREAS AS

Light sleet and snow flurries here in NW Harris County. I suspect the additional lift from the upper low will keep these spotty flurries/light sleet pellets going into the late afternoon/early evening hours.

Yeah just something else to let them hype things even more and let them be even less believable. The National Enquirer of weather forecasting. That's why I'm thankful for the folks on this weather board! I like my weather with a side of common sense.
