Over an inch here as the overflow bucket has water in it. I'm guessing about 2 inches so far.

I just took a quick walk outside and it's pretty amazing out there right now. Directly above, the sky is blue. Even in the clear blue sky, I have some drops falling. It's light, but they are big drops. The storm is *just* to my south and east now, but the top is backbuilding and almost over me. It's also gusting out - it's windy here, but this time the wind is from the ESE.

Lots of bright, puffy storm clouds all around. It's very tropical-like, indeed. Will be interesting to see if more storms build up over the outflow overnight as the LLJ kicks in over it.

And as I finish this post, I hear it pouring again on the skylight....this cycle of backbuilding, moving east, and re-building is happening fast.

Looks to be a storm event tonight. Probably another night time event while you sleep.

The central counties' storms are backbuilding all the way towards the other central Texas convection.

Let's hope we don't... We have history on our side for minimal 100 degree days if at all!

:?: Question. The storms now in Central Texas seem to be moving SE to the west of the metro area. As in these look to be headed more towards the Corpus direction. I thought today and tonight's event was supposed to be more focused on N, N/E and northern SETX. Has anything changed? Or is this one of those events we just don't know what will happen until it plays out? I'm here in the BPT area and we got pretty hefty storms earlier today. NWS and our local mets said nothing of any chance today. NWS even showed sunny skies. Sorry for not having or knowing the terminology as you guys use. Just seems the focus has shifted away from a N and NETX rain event and I'm just curious. Thanks in advance if anyone could shed some light.

The last time we did not see 100 degrees in the summer was in 1997. The same year that El Nino was developing, like right now. I think we may not see 100 degrees this summer.

1.84" so far. That gives me 3.30" for June and 22.74" for the year.

Looks like I'm about to get hammered by 70-80 mph straight line winds here in southwestern Travis County.

I'm not super fond of my own CPAP, but at least I don't snore anymore.

Any bow echoes yet on the radar? HGX was worried about that.

Juuuust a bit too much non-weather-related information, Special-Ed... :D Sleep well, bud :)

Quite an impressive convective flare-up in the last 10 minutes here... headed your way if it holds together.

BTW Jason... Ed has traded my county to the FWD CWA for a draft pick to be named later because we significantly differed from Houston ( 4th largest city ) rainfall totals. Please be advised... you could be next. In the end-game, the HGX CWA could be narrowed to the NW Harris Co area, so that appropriate focus could be applied. ;)

Yesterday/last night we enjoyed a taste of rain but nothing measurable (sigh). But it was a bit wild with some loud thunder and lightening bolts. {High and dry}

Maybe MBY will have another chance today. We'll see.

Thankfully most of us know that this forum has many folks well beyond the Houston Area It's been that way for as long as I can remember. The Good news is parts of Colorado and Jackson Counties have seen 6 to 8 inches of rain since June the 1st and areas around San Jacinto and Montgomery Counties have seen 4 to 5 inches. Not a bad start when some were saying 2011 was going to repeat and fires would burn up everything. Also thankfully we have not seen 100 degrees and the upper ridges have not been anchored for weeks on end. The recent rain have helped to keep the multi year drought in check with improvements across areas that sorely needed the rain. A very typical summer time pattern looks likely with sea/bay breeze storms and just enough moisture in place to allow those storms to develop. Even the San Antonio/Austin area is getting some rain which is another good thing.

Thanks for this reality check Srain! You are right. I am very grateful for the way Spring 2014 has rolled out weather wise!
Lake Texana in Jackson County was really dry but now looks better than ever!

Yes sir, we are getting good rain in the AUS metro area. Last night areas received anywhere from a half inch to 2 1/2 inches, depending on location. The Highland Lakes are slowly filling up. Long ways to go but it's a nice start. Fortunately the tornadic activity threatened last night but didn't translate into a tornado-on-the-ground event. We did see some straight line wind damage in parts of far western Travis County and Blanco County. And there were tornadoes on the ground up near Briggs/Bertram in Burnet County. NWS is going a survey this morning on the damage north of Austin.

I got .03" overnight. 3.33" now for June.

Scrolling-up and looking at the Central TX radar, it looks like an old outflow boundary is moving SW across the Austin Metro area now....will be interesting to see where storms trigger today with some heating.

I hope we see some more action the next couple of days because after that, it looks like things shut down for awhile.
