* Until noon CDT.

* At 1004 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing

..FLASH FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 PM CDT THIS AFTERNOON...

The National Weather Service in Houston/Galveston has issued a

* Flash Flood Watch for a portion of southeast Texas...including
the following counties...Chambers...Coastal Brazoria...Coastal
Galveston...Coastal Harris...Fort Bend...Galveston Island and
Bolivar Peninsula...Inland Brazoria...Inland Galveston...
Inland Harris and Southern Liberty.

* Until 4 PM CDT this afternoon

* Rainfall forming and circulating around a mid level low centered
over the Galveston Bay area will be ongoing over the next few
hours. Various locations around western Houston have already
picked up a quick 3 to 4 inches of rain over just an hour or
two. Any more rainfall will likely induce street flooding and
low lying area flooding.

* Another 1 to 3 inches of rain is likely over the watch area
through the early afternoon hours. The main threat will be that
of street flooding, especially around construction areas. Local
bayous should be able to handle this rainfall although a quick 2
to 3 inch per hour rainfall rate over any watershed will make
levels quickly rise to near bankfull. Lower lying areas will
also experience flooding.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.

Flash Flood Update from Jeff:

Flash Flood event unfolding across Harris County.

Very heavy rainfall continues across central Harris County with 2-4 hour total of 5-6 inches over lower White Oak and lower Buffalo Bayous. Creeks and Bayous are rising rapidly. Overall rainfall trends may be weakening just a little, but an additional 1-2 inches in the next hour is possible on top of what has fallen.

Monitoring the following watersheds:

Halls Bayou

Brickhouse Gully

Lower White Oak

Lower Buffalo

Willow Waterhole.

Rainfall will be expanding westward or “up” the watersheds which will result in upstream run-off moving downstream into already hard hit locations.

The Big Blob over Houston seems to be moving a little south of west as of 11:30am Wed. What are expected movements over the next 24-48 hours? On this path, San Antonio looks to be in bull's eye with Austin getting peripheral rains.

The low continues to move westward, just slowly. Expect another 3-5 inches to be possible, higher in some isolated spots. Just have to radar watch for the next couple hours as models are completely out to lunch right now. I do expect clearing to occur later this afternoon.

A weak surface low is located SE of Galveston and S of Sabine Pass with an 850mb vort located near Liberty County. Rainfall, so very heavy should increase as the morning wears on and slowly increase in areal coverage.

Still nearly a bust up here in College Station. Just a trace, and not much on the radar above between Brenham and Navasota. The grass is in poor shape. At least it is cloudy and cooler.
