Perhaps we should start focusing on the potential heavy rainfall in our July Discussion thread as Alex is well inland in MX...A big shout out to all that contributed to the Alex thread...

Well I missed what sounds like a eventful chase for my partner Josh and Jorge with hurricane Alex. Hard to complain against sipping rita's and getting a bikini line going @ Lake Havasu. However it was mucho hot out that way. Yearned for the Texas heat!

Anyways...

Josh has a full report up at Eastern for anyone interested. As usual it's a great description of the events. Jorge also has some stellar images of Monterrey a few dozen posts before the chase report. Not surprising that the US media under reports what the effects were in Mexico.

Number of storms and ACE are not always related. They are strongly correlated though. 1936 had 16/7/1, but an ACE of 108. On the other hand, 1961 had 11/8/7, but an ACE of 205. Higher ACEs are largely from hurricanes and major hurricanes.

I still expect this one to get upgraded after the season is over to a Cat 3

I suspect that 90 kts will stand for Alex. Still may be retired due to the flood damage in Monterrey.
