I've hit 100 several times this summer. But my thermometer isn't out in a open field, either. Whose is - in the city anyway?TXWeatherMan wrote: ↑Mon Aug 30, 2021 9:41 amLooks like chances of reaching 100 might be done for the summer too. At least I hope so.srainhoutx wrote: ↑Mon Aug 30, 2021 9:33 am
NWS Houston
@NWSHouston
The city of Houston has gone 365 days with temperatures below 100 degrees. The last time the temperature reached 100 degrees was on August 29 2020 (101 degrees). #houwx
So did Houma end up taking a direct hit? Honestly that damage in the vid doesn’t really appear too bad. I’ve seen way worse. It might have gotten worse after that though.tireman4 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 30, 2021 10:02 am Hurricane Ida Houma LA

Houma is 59 miles to the northwest of Port Fourchon. The storm made landfall at 12:55 p.m. as an "extremely dangerous" Category 4 storm with 145 mph winds at Port Fourchon, Louisiana.Cpv17 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 30, 2021 10:57 amSo did Houma end up taking a direct hit? Houma was scraped by the western eyewall. Area around Grand Isle was hit the worst. Galliano took a direct hit. The eastern eyewall was largely over swamp and lakes (Lake Salvador) until it got to Kenner and LaPlace (western NOLA burbs) 7-8 hours after landfall. NOLA missed the eyewall so most of the central levees were space. Lake Pontchartrain overflow. Lafitte and John Lafitte had levee problems near eastern eyewall. Very bad, could have been far worse if NOLA took a direct hit. Power will be out for days, though.tireman4 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 30, 2021 11:00 amHouma is 59 miles to the northwest of Port Fourchon. Speaking of Grand Isle....wasn't expecting that west jog overnight Sunday but overall not a bad call from Thursday evening. I haven't calculated distances yet but I'm pretty sure it's a decent mark closer than where the NHC was at the time. I'll get to it in my own post-analysis.
Yep, my Monday forecast of “hot and dry” came to fruition. The deck form boards and rebar were done today. We took a spot from another jobsite that wasn’t ready yet and jumped in line. Got the text at 6:45am they wanted to head over. Fine by us! Kinda hectic but less hectic than last minute preps for a major hurricane!!TexasBreeze wrote: ↑Mon Aug 30, 2021 4:43 pm The added pressure gradient breeziness is making things not too bad in the shade at my place with low humidity and 68 dewpoint. It is hot, but it could sure be worse!
I went ahead and removed it.jasons2k wrote: ↑Sun Aug 29, 2021 10:29 pmThis first tweet is not confirmed. The quote cannot be attributed to any credible source and I can't find it anywhere else. Cool. Thanks for all you do. It can get quite frantic these days with social media and it’s hard to ensure what gets re-posted on the forums is reliable. The mods on this forum and S2K try our best but we can’t check everything in real-time, all the time.Ptarmigan wrote: ↑Mon Aug 30, 2021 6:54 pmI went ahead and removed it.jasons2k wrote: ↑Sun Aug 29, 2021 10:29 pmThis first tweet is not confirmed. Was wondering how the pool was coming along since your update the other day. Good to hear they are making progress! Thanks for bringing it up, again.jasons2k wrote: ↑Mon Aug 30, 2021 5:20 pmYep, my Monday forecast of “hot and dry” came to fruition. The deck form boards and rebar were done today.
