Merry Christmas to all!

I’m so happy I won’t be wearing shorts and flip flops with the A/C on full blast while cooking this year. It gets OLD !!

I’ll take a week or so of thawing out and hopefully the next round brings us some snow with it!

IMBY near Sugar Land, lows yesterday morning were ~17-19°F range, with the following afternoon getting up to 34°F.

The low this morning was ~21-24°F, and the high (as of now) is bursting through the 40s.

The area from Sugar Land east through Houston Hobby/Pearland area, then down to the coast of Lake Jackson and Galveston seems to fare relatively well regarding milder low temps. Still intense cold regardless, coldest Christmas period in years.

ERCOT made an emergency request yesterday regarding our power situation, a request that ERCOT says “it does not take lightly.” There is unfinished business with regard to the reliability of our grid, but if we can make it through this winter the Public Utilities Commission and Texas Legislature are primed to take the action needed in 2023 to finally fortify our grid by requiring sufficient backup reserves.

Oh, and I probably will cease being active sometime after the New Year. Will still browse updates, though.

Otherwise, I wish everyone here a Merry Christmas on this chilly Christmas Eve!

I noticed last evening some amazing orange, peach colors near the horizon at sunset.

We've made it unscathed, including the Christmas decorations in the front - that was a miracle in the 40+ mph wind gusts.

Back down to 29°F on the way to 21-22°F.

Got down to 23.7 on my station. Sugar Land airport got down to 25 and I’m usually a degree or two cooler. Very cold Christmas morning and loving it! Merry Christmas all!
