Yea maybe, just maybe if when the disturbance drops down south over us if we can get some wrap around moisture, we could see some snow flakes.

Likely seeing accumulation in Madison and Houston Counties. Brenham reporting mix...may see mix as far south as SE Montgomery and N Liberty Co...if rain can hang on a few more hours. 1-2 slushy inches looks likely in the advisory area.

8.7 inches at DFW now...incredible

Observation out of the Ft. Worth NWS

"Looking at latest water vapor imagery/upper lvl pv analysis, a secondary shortwave trough is digging into the backside of the trough causing widespread precipitation over north tx atm. While this may not mean much... we are watching this feature very closely as it has produced 2 lightning strikes in west texas. The moisture is a little better out there and it's quite a bit warmer so it may have little to no impact on our local wx pattern in north tx... however we will be watching this feature closely for any potential for regenerating wintry precipitation for friday morning."

Well it's just raining now in College Station. There are some nice accumulations on vehicles but minimal ground accumulations. The sidewalks are all slushy now. I've heard a few ambulances go by already, hopefully it wasn't for wrecks.

Yes! The flakes got smaller for about 10 minutes and now they are back to being huge. It has not stopped snowing since about 8 pm and if I understand the forecast it is suppose to keep snowing until 2-3 am. I can only imagine how much might be on the ground by morning. I hope my son gets a day off from school or either a late start. I am in heaven. I tried to take some pictures but it was my son's camera and I could not figure out how to get the flash on so the pictures did not come out very good. I will take some in the morning and post them if they turn out good.

It is about 9:25 now and shows no signs of letting up. The temp has fallen to around 32. And I thought the December 2008 snow storm was all I would ever get to see again.

I hope everyone who wants the snow gets some. It is so pretty!!!!

AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION...CORRECTED
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HOUSTON/GALVESTON TX
912 PM CST THU FEB 11 2010

.DISCUSSION...
PRECIP IS BEGINNING TO CHANGE OVER ACROSS THE FAR NORTHERN
COUNTIES AS ANTICIPATED AS THE ATMOSPHERIC COLUMN COOLS WITH THE
ARRIVAL OF THE SHORTWAVE. HAVE RECEIVED REPORTS OF HEAVY SNOW
FALLING IN BRYAN WITH SNOW ACCUMULATING ON CARS...AND SLEET
CHANGING OVER TO SNOW IN MADISONVILLE. THE OB IN CROCKETT JUST SHOWED
A CHANGEOVER TO SNOW AS WELL TEMPS HAVE QUICKLY DROPPED TO NEAR
FREEZING IN THESE AREAS. METARS HAVE BEEN SHOWING SOME PERIODS OF
RAIN OR EVEN FREEZING RAIN DURING THE CHANGEOVER PERIOD...SO HAVE
ADDED -FZRA TO THE MIX FOR THIS EVENING. EXPECT THAT BY AROUND
MIDNIGHT IT WILL GO TO MOSTLY SNOW ACROSS THE NRN COUNTIES.

EXPANDED THE WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY TO INCLUDE BURLESON...BRAZOS...AND
GRIMES COUNTIES. THE BACK EDGE OF THE MAIN PRECIP SHIELD HAS REACHED
THE I-35 CORRIDOR...AND WILL CLEAR THE NW ZONES BY 2 AM. 00Z NAM
SHOWS NO PRECIP OCCURRING BEYOND THIS TIME FRAME. WILL KEEP ADVISORY
GOING UNTIL 6 AM HOWEVER AS BRIDGES/OVERPASSES LIKELY TO REMAIN ICY.

THE 00Z NAM SHOWS IMPRESSIVE JET DYNAMICS RESULTING IN ANOTHER
ROUND OF PRECIP AFTER MIDNIGHT OVER EASTERN ZONES...WITH FCST
SOUNDINGS AT KLFK STILL SHOWING A SATURATED COLUMN WELL INTO LATE
TONIGHT. SO A MORE PROLONGED PERIOD OF HEAVY SNOW EXPECTED FOR
THIS AREA. WILL KEEP THE NE ZONES JUST ADVISORY LEVEL FOR
NOW...BUT WILL MONITOR THINGS CLOSELY AND WILL CONSIDER UPGRADING
TO A WARNING IN THE HOUSTON/TRINITY COUNTY AREA IF NECESSARY.

UPDATED PRODUCTS OUT SHORTLY.

Is that good for those who want to get sleet/snow particularly in SE Texas, wxdata?

NW Harris County sleet storm. About an 20/80 mix with rain being the highest. Gusty wind switch to NNE as well.

Sleetstorm

I had started sleeting really hard for about 30 minutes and then the next thing I knew my son had come in from swim practice at ATM and told me it was snowing. I went outside and the flakes were bigger than quarters. Could barely seen down the street. We are fixing to go back outside and see what is going on and I will report back.

So, I guess in answer to your question, it changed immediately from the heavy sleet to the big snowflakes. All the roadways are covered in pristine white as well as the rooftops, trees, sidewalks, anything outside.

Absolutely beautiful!!!!!

Which way will that new area of concern trek, wxdata?
Do you believe it could trigger some energy for us?

This may dig further south, however it is a weak piece of energy.
