I thought if Houston was going to see any frozen precipitation, it would be the first or second full week of February. This is the part of the year where we would have a threat for ice or snow.

Basically no winter this year. One big freeze event. Couple cooler days.

Come on yall know better than to do this, it is going to get cold here, the operational runs mean very little in terms of temps, the mesocale guidance has a way better handle and they are most definitely colder and thats very important, ensembles agree, the cold is coming and that is a guarantee, highs in the upper 30’s to low 40’s for most, upper 40’s for the coast to low 50’s

Yeah but most people in here are pessimists, it seems.

Only out of curiosity, does anyone know what became of ticka1, wxman57, and Mr.T? Please tell me CO-VID did not snuff their lives out.

Ticka1 passed away a few years ago, 57 doesn’t post on here anymore. He only posts on Storm2K, and I’m not sure about Mr.T.

TexasPirate still posts on here from time to time and not sure who else you’re referring to.

Ticks suddenly and unexpectedly passed away in Sept 2018 due to
Something related to her heart.

Naw, I don't think they are pessimists at all, more on the lines of being a realist. Lots of optimism going on here, which is great since I am an optimistic person myself, except when it comes to wintry weather around these parts.lol

With that said, I don't see any threat at all from any models of wintry weather around here (Southeast Texas). Just your usual cold dreary weather (maybe highs in the 30's /low 40's briefly under dreary skies) as we head into February. In reality, we have 4 weeks left, just 4 WEEKS. The yellow jasmine usually starts showing up in the trees the second week of February which is my sign the seasons have begun their transition from Winter to Spring.

Even if there’s no wintry weather here, I would still be excited for 35-45°F temps with rain. Yeah, I realize that I’m probably in the minority on that but that’s okay. I’m different like that lol

I just looked at the mesoscale models for tomorrow and I’m not really seeing much rain around for a lot of us yet rain chances are like 80-90%. I don’t see anything that should warrant such high chances.

Mr.T hasn't been here for years like almost a decade now,im not sure what happened to him.The last time I remember him posting was during the March 2014 ice storm.

My $.02 on the topic:

Yeah be careful not to judge people by what they post online.
I’m an optimistic person. I love life and my family - I have been extremely blessed. But when we have a drought or major freeze I probably come a across as a whiny curmudgeon. That’s not me in real life — what I rant about on this board at times doesn’t define who I am, or how I act 99% of the time. So be careful with that.

Weatherwise - it’s a chilly off an on rain up here.

Over the last couple of days the low forecasted for next Friday has been rising on the weather app. It was 28 now it’s 38. Not even showing a freeze…

It was a sad day when I heard the news 9/28/2018 of Ticka's passing. Glad I had a chance to meet her at our Kemah gathering years ago.

jasons2k i personally dont find weather apps to be reliable for temps, mainly just for the radar

Just annoys me when people post these doom posts without being properly educated on things and just automatically jump to the worst conclusions about things.

I pretty much make my own forecast for temps if I’m being completely honest. And I don’t rely on the NWS or apps for too much of anything. I ride or die with my own forecast. Just being honest.

Canadian and NAM12K continue to be in agreement. Guessing about a 40% chance of freezing rain or sleet late this week. For those south of Hwy 1*5 I think the SE ridge is just a bit too strong. Canadian has lows in the teens in CLL next weekend.
