cp17 mentioned it earlier, but I really think that southern half Texas as a whole really doesn't benefit well from anything other than a good hit regarding a tropical cyclone/easterly patterns in general.

Especially the far south/RGV areas. They were lucky to get hit with Harold, because anything else just doesn't generate convection there.

It's very frustrating. There is a fault line where the ground has cracked that runs down the entire length of my fence and the concreted posts have a 2-3 inch gap all around every single one. One decent thunderstorm and the whole thing is coming down.

There are small chances that areas south of I-10 snag a brief storm today/tomorrow. Otherwise, we'll have to wait until at least Labor Day weekend for better chances to return.

Holiday weekend usually means freak weather around here. Bring on the flash flood!

It better not rain in CS Saturday. Otherwise, Sunday and Monday can be a wash out.

Cromagnum wrote: ↑Mon Aug 28, 2023 5:47 pm Imagine that, the forecast around here is totally wrong.

I just KNEW yesterday when most all of our area missed out that we weren't getting **** today when it was suppose to be "our turn". To hell with this miserable POS season.
Couldn't agree more! We more than likely won't see any meaningful rainfall (widespread 1.5"-3") until mid October when a "wet" front comes all the way through. Most September fronts are dry other than some hit and miss showers in front of it. Gulf storms look shut down for next 10-14 days. Then only a week or so left for good chance of tropical system providing relief before those fronts keep them away. Hoping for exceptions, but 50 years in Galveston Co. these are my observations of typical activity based on the past.

Won't happen but I like Joe Bastardi's model for Idelia. Only way to get rain here.

Mehh, shift that 100 miles SW then maybe. Most of us would get nothing with that track.

Idalia - counter-clockwise flow around the cyclone has kicked-in. Not good fire conditions.

Anytime a TC is to our east, it’s gonna create fire conditions around here cuz of the backside dry northerly winds.

Yep. At least the DP dropped. But were close to 100Β°F again.

101Β°F...but the DP is in the 50s, so the heat index is also 101Β°F.

What are the odds of the 20-30% chance of rain this weekend completely evaporating like every other opportunity?

Better odds Monday and Tuesday as of right now.
