I don’t really think anyone in the area got any rain outta this outside a few sprinkles.

This graphic from Brazoria County makes no sense. I don't see how Angleton has a 24% chance to freeze when the freezing line is mostly north of Harris County.

Because that freezing line isn’t set in stone. That’s why there’s a chance.

The Angleton/Lake Jackson airport is a cool spot similar to Conroe. On nights with clear skies and light winds radiational cooling drops them colder than the surrounding area. I tested it with multiple vehicles and the temp drops right when you get off 288 and get to the airport. Lake Jackson is about 5 degrees warmer or more.

Our CLL airport is on high ground and a warm spot (UHI next to and part of A&M). We'll have frost on the ground both nights and I think actual freezing temps on Wednesday night IMBY.

lol from A/C to the NG furnace in less than 24 hours.

We're currently at 44°F at the airport and going nowhere. 42°F IMBY. Still some serious advection with N23 G30 and light rain. Some like it raw. 8-)

I think we'll hit freezing either Tuesday or Wednesday night with light winds, clear skies.

I’m perfectly fine with this weather as long as it doesn’t get me sick from such a big transition. At least now I can drive at night time out in the country and not have to worry about hitting 10,000 bugs before I reach my destination.

I like it and or Labrador dog loves it - I'm just grateful to be rid of (fingers crossed) 90°F+ temps and 70°+ DPs!

Same. I was born and raised south of Lafayette, Louisiana. I now live in League City. I have always loathed Summer.

Pas_Bon i dont mind summer that much, its just that oppressive humidity which makes it so miserable , if it was just a dry heat we get it wouldn’t be as bad tbh

Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Houston/Galveston TX

...New AVIATION...

.SHORT TERM...
(Today through Wednesday Night)
Issued at 327 AM CDT Tue Oct 31 2023

Muah-hahahaha! Welcome to the spookiest forecast of them all
featuring bone chilling temperatures, howling winds, and an
onslaught of drier air. Read ahead...if you dare! The morning hours
of this Halloween will start out under the shadows of overcast
clouds and lingering light rain/drizzle due to remnant moisture and
passing weak shortwaves. The lack of moonlight shall keep the
werewolves at bay this morning, and it shall also keep temperatures
from cooling off as much as they could if we had clear skies
instead. Expect temperatures this morning to range from the upper
30s to mid 40s with wind chill values in the low 30s to low 40s. For
those that want to experience even colder air, fret not as an 850mb
front will push offshore over the next few hours with much drier air
funneling in behind it throughout the day. Moderate winds develop
aloft following the second frontal passage with a 25-35 kt LLJ
leading to another round of tree rustling northerly winds at the
surface realm. Winds are expected to remain elevated along the coast
into tonight, so the Wind Advisory has been extended along the
barrier islands through 1am CDT Wednesday morning. For the coastal
areas north of the islands, your Wind Advisory still expires at 1pm
CDT this afternoon.

Skies will quickly clear out in the late morning to early afternoon
hours almost as if they were enchanted by a magic spell. CAA will
continue to prevail, so high temperatures will top out in the upper
50s to low 60s. For those venturing out tonight for trick-or-
treating, beware of the chilly temperatures...no need to be
frightened though as it won`t quite be spine-tingling cold but cold
enough to make a plan for keeping your little ones warm for the
great candy quest. Temperatures in the 7pm-9pm timeframe will range
from the upper 40s to low 50s with wind chill values in the low 40s
to low 50s. Gusty winds will wail into the night for those along the
coast, so be sure to hold onto your hats or they shall become one
with the wind. Surface high pressure (~1032 mb) drifts close
overnight leading to decreasing winds. Lighter winds plus clear
skies equals bone chilling temperatures! Going into the witching
hour, low temperatures will drop into the low 30s to low 40s with
some portions of the Brazos Valley/Piney Woods seeing their first
freeze of the season. A Freeze Warning is in effect for
Houston/Madison Counties for late tonight/early Wednesday morning.
Wind chill values will range from the mid 20s to upper 30s, so it`ll
certainly feel like Jack Frost has made an early appearance.

As we kick off the month of November on Wednesday, we also kick the
upper level trough off to our east along with the surface high
pressure going into the night. This begins a transition to where CAA
is gradually coming to an end, but not before one more frigid night!
High temperatures on Wednesday will once again top out in the upper
50s/low 60s with lighter winds due to surface high pressure moving
overhead in the afternoon hours. Although the surface high pressure
will be moving out to the east on Wednesday night, it`ll be close
enough to keep the pressure gradient loose meaning winds will be
calm overnight. Light winds and clear skies equates to maximum
radiational cooling. Dew points will be down into the mid 20s to low
30s, so Wednesday night looks to be our coldest night since late
March. Low temperatures will generally range from the upper 20s to
mid 30s north of I-10 and the upper 30s to mid 40s south of I-10.
Areas generally near Conroe and northward will potentially
experience a light freeze. A Freeze Watch may be needed for
Wednesday night in some of our northern counties.

With freezing temperatures expected Tuesday night and Wednesday
night across portions of the Brazos Valley/Piney Woods, this is a
good time to remind everyone about the three P`s: people, pets, and
plants (leaving out pipes because this will not be a hard freeze).
Make sure you and your loved ones are able to stay warm, and if you
wouldn`t feel comfortable sleeping outside in frigid temperatures,
then your pets won`t be comfortable either...keep them warm as well.
Bring your plants inside to a garage/shed or cover them with a sheet
or container if they are unable to be moved, especially for northern
areas tonight due to the potential for frost. Stay warm and may your
Halloween be filled with more treats than tricks!

.LONG TERM...
(Thursday through Monday)

Issued at 327 AM CDT Tue Oct 31 2023
With surface high pressure now well to our east by Thursday, a
gradual increase in temperatures and moisture is expected through
the remainder of the week and into the weekend as a steady onshore
wind pattern redevelops. That being said, conditions should still
remain quite pleasant throughout the extended period, albeit
becoming a bit sticky heading into the weekend as dew point values
break back into the 60s. In terms of temperatures, most locations
should see highs in the mid to upper 60s by Thursday and the low to
mid 70s on Friday, while values hover near 80 degrees throughout the
course of the weekend and remain solidly in the 80s on Monday.
Overnight lows will follow a similarly increasing trend, climbing
from the 40s to low 50s on Thursday night to the 60s by the weekend
and into next week. As mentioned above, moisture levels will also be
on the increase, albeit not to levels seen last weekend. While some
diurnally driven showers and storms may be possible as we approach
the weekend and beginning of next week, global models indicate
midlevel forcing to be marginal at best while total PWs don`t reach
much higher than 1.0 in. Little to no accumulating rainfall is
expected as a result.

.AVIATION...
(12Z TAF Issuance)
Issued at 534 AM CDT Tue Oct 31 2023

Lingering light rain/drizzle will persist through the morning
hours and gradually dissipate by the early afternoon. Gusty
northerly winds will also continue today with sustained winds
around 12-15 knots and gusts up to 25 knots. GLS still expected to
see wind gusts around of over 30 knots throughout the day. Clouds
will clear from north to south throughout the day. Winds decrease
to around 7-10 knots after sunset with clear skies prevailing for
the remainder of the TAF period. Winds gradually transition to
northeasterly by Wednesday morning.

.MARINE...
Issued at 327 AM CDT Tue Oct 31 2023

Gale force gusts remain a possibility over the next few hours before
a gradually diminishing wind and wave height trend begins to set in
today. A Small Craft Advisory will remain in effect through
Wednesday afternoon as seas remain at around 6 to 8 feet and wind
speeds sit at to 20 to 25 knots. A period of low water levels in the
bays is possible this afternoon at low tide, with this concern
decreasing by tomorrow as wind speeds begin to decrease. An onshore
flow pattern looks to redevelop on Thursday with both winds and seas
continuing to remain below caution thresholds.
