Average high for December/January in Houston is 62. High of 50 in late October is a real cold front.brazoriatx wrote: ↑Sun Oct 29, 2023 6:01 pm This is basically a mediocre cool front for October..I'll take it but this isn't a cold front ..highs in the 50s and 60s isn't cold

Tomorrow won’t get out of the 40’s for most of us.

brazoriatx lol what? Youre going to be lucky to even hit 50 tommorow, given the average high this time of year in se texas in late october is around 80 -81 degrees ish, this front is going to drop tempo by a good 30-35 degrees, thats a legit fall front
Pretty weaksauce so far. Wind is out of the north now but barely blowing and barely cool.

It is a very shallow front with the low cloud deck moving in slowly. It is cooling off noticeably though.

49 degrees here with a few light showers, tommorow looks like a good day for chili and watching a movie
I’m just one hour west of you and the temp has already dropped off 33° in 4 hours since it came in. Pretty noticeable change over here. And the wind is blowing nearly 20mph here with gusts to 25-30.
46degees and dropping we won’t see 50 deg until Tuesday.
Was still pretty tame at 11 last night. Wind finally ramped up early this morning.
:Zero rain from this event down here in League City. Shocking.
This graphic from Brazoria County makes no sense. I don't see how Angleton has a 24% chance to freeze when the freezing line is mostly north of Harris County.
The Angleton/Lake Jackson airport is a cool spot similar to Conroe. On nights with clear skies and light winds radiational cooling drops them colder than the surrounding area. I tested it with multiple vehicles and the temp drops right when you get off 288 and get to the airport. Lake Jackson is about 5 degrees warmer or more.
Our CLL airport is on high ground and a warm spot (UHI next to and part of A&M). We'll have frost on the ground both nights and I think actual freezing temps on Wednesday night IMBY.jmead wrote: ↑Mon Oct 30, 2023 10:36 am The Angleton/Lake Jackson airport is a cool spot similar to Conroe. lol from A/C to the NG furnace in less than 24 hours.
We're currently at 44°F at the airport and going nowhere. 42°F IMBY. Still some serious advection with N23 G30 and light rain. Some like it raw.
I think we'll hit freezing either Tuesday or Wednesday night with light winds, clear skies.

I’m perfectly fine with this weather as long as it doesn’t get me sick from such a big transition. At least now I can drive at night time out in the country and not have to worry about hitting 10,000 bugs before I reach my destination.
This is a pretty potent front by October standards.Feels nice out there.
