They ( NWS) did mention potential. They also mentioned the variables in which severe could not take place. I think they covered the bases in the write ups

Very glad we had cloud cover this morning resulting in less lift because the shear was in place. Very low clouds were moving rapidly across the sky today. So far a nice 3.14" total since this morning.

Have a total of .54" so far.

I don't think there was a single severe weather watch, warning, or report anywhere in SE Texas today. After all hype, it turned out to be a big nothing-burger.

Nah, the moderate risk in April 2017 was a worse bust than today's.There was nothing but streamer showers that day for most. LOL

As it turned out, you were right about the cloud cover. My apologies for jumping the gun on that. I really expected some spin-ups despite the lack of cape.

jasons2k all good! Definitely glad the severe weather was a bust, ive been through a nighttime tornado before and that was probably the scariest experience ive ever been in
