Southern Hemisphere-What went wrong?
I read that when El Ninos are dying, the West Pacific and Southern Hemisphere is less active. Interestingly in 1977, the Southern Hemisphere was an average season, while the West Pacific Season was below average. Same goes with East Pacific and Atlantic.
If this became a hurricane, it would be the second time a hurricane formed in the South Atlantic. I am sure this has happened before satellites existed. The reason we do not see any hurricanes in the South Atlantic are:
-Lack of Inter Tropical Convergence Zone
-Cooler waters
-Strong wind sheer, mostly from extratropical systems that circle Antarctica
Same can also apply to Southeast Pacific off the coast of South America.
