Unfortunately for most of SE TX, I don't have much hope for rain today. Further W into the Hill Country and points W, perhaps better chances where cool pooling and afternoon heating may generate activity later in the day. The models do suggest another convective complex to our N overnight, so maybe tomorrow will be a better day for rain chances locally. Some possible sea breeze activity is not out of the question later today, but I'd expect that to be isolated at best.

"Another climate fact for today. The all-time record high overnight minimum temperature for Galveston is 85 degrees. This occurred nine times between 1874 and 2010. It has now occurred nine times this Summer, including on the last seven consecutive mornings."

wow... that's all I can muster...

Yep, that complex to the north is hardly moving and is starting to show a weakening trend.

RECORDS ARE THREATENED INCLUDING THE MOST 100-DEGREE DAYS IN
AUGUST (14 DAYS IN 1993)...MOST 100-DEGREE DAYS IN A MONTH (18
DAYS IN JULY 1980)...AND MOST 100-DEGREE DAYS FOR AN ENTIRE SUMMER

I too am hoping for rain badly. I work as a commercial roof inspector and have to stay on the roof the entire day. There are no cooling stations or breaks in the shade. It has been getting so hot that the roof begins to get slick with the asphalt starts to turn back into liquid form. PLEASE LET IT RAIN SOON. That is the only way I get a day off.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, rub it in. The Season of Wither continues. For those who are wanting information on this drought outside the confines of the Houston-Galveston area, I would suggest you read an article on the front page of the Houston Chronicle. This is not from the Chronicle, but it deals with it:

BIG SPRING, TX (CNN) - Severe drought conditions in West Texas have led to a unique plan to recycle wastewater to the drinking faucet.

More than 100 years ago, the small Texas town's namesake was a popular watering hole for settlers heading west.

But recent droughts have made water scarce. Now, the small town is constructing a $13 million water treatment plant to turn sewage wastewater into drinking water.

Congrats katdaddy! I am happy for anyone who receives rain. Had some dark clouds early in the day here in Stafford, but quickly cleared out. Sigh... I even washed my car last week, but it didn't work.

I hear you. I hate a normal Houston summer. This is ridiculous! I was checking on my Football team last night, thinking and hoping for cooling weather. Than woke up this morning, went outside and realized it was but a dream. ;)

It looks like the boundary to our N and E is starting to fire convection. The sea breeze is beginning its trek inland so we will need to watch where these boundaries collide this afternoon...

I'll post this here, for what it's worth, the 12Z Euro develops a disturbance along the boundary currently draped along the Northern Gulf Coast and that feature heads W bound into the Central TX Coast late next weekend. Something to watch as stalled boundaries in August along the Gulf Coast have been known to spin up a little home grown action...
