It is raining, well hit and miss in Humble. Wow.

Looks as though some residents in SE Texas may avoid reaching the century mark today with the cloud that some of these thunderstorms are giving. It also looks like Houston's 100 degree streak might also be broken today.

Storms just fired off maybe a mile to the south of me and.......are moving south. Wow, I'm pretty pissed off right about now!!


I guess I will go stick my head under the sprinkler.

You must be north of me. I'm around 2854 and Honea Egypt.... I got a good 15 minute deluge here. Just topped off my pool when it started. Figures!!!! I'll take the mini-drought-buster!

Wonder if the 5" wide cracks in my yard shrank to 4" by now.

The city of Montgomery (149 and 105) got DELUGED when I was over there. It was "red overhead" for about 10 minutes while I packed groceries into the Denali.

Larry Cosgrove is still thinking September 4-5 for our cooling off. He did say the models were hinting earlier, but he will go conservative and stick with September 4-5. There is good news coming folks. He also stated that it might be a shade below climo and we WOULD notice a difference. Woo hoo....

TEMPERATURES HAVE ALREADY REACHED 100 DEGREES AT COLLEGE
STATION...CONROE...TOMBALL...AND SUGAR LAND...BUT ONLY 99 DEGREES
SO FAR AT IAH. WILL JUST HAVE TO WAIT AND SEE IF THE MERCURY CAN
CLIMB ANOTHER DEGREE THIS AFTERNOON AND BREAK THE RECORDS FOR
CONSECUTIVE 100 DEGREE DAYS AND 100 DEGREE DAYS FOR AUGUST WHICH
WERE TIED IN HOUSTON YESTERDAY.

Another day, another 100F at IAH. The record streak continues...

Impact Weather:

Mostly dry conditions will unfortunately build back over the region through the middle of the week as upper level high pressure strengthens back over the region. Temperatures through Wednesday are forecast to range from 100 to 103 degrees over northern and western Harris County to 98 to 101 over southern and eastern parts of the county.

We will mention a slight chance for mainly afternoon showers and storms on Thursday through at least Saturday as weak disturbances rotate around the strong upper high and interact with daytime heating. Temperatures during this time frame may cool down just a little, but still remain very hot and average from 98 to 101 over the northern and western part of Harris County to 96 to 99 over the southern and eastern part of the county.

The outlook is still calling for a significant pattern change during the last week of August as the large upper high pivots out of the region. Such a shift could result in a better chance of rain during the last week of August with more seasonal temperatures back into the low to mid 90s. We will have a much better idea over the next week if such a pattern change will occur.

For now we are gaining some confidence that a pattern change may occur by the end of the month based largely on computer model trends.

The 12Z Euro Ensembles continue to advertise a pattern change. The Heat Ridge that has plagued TX since late May is finally shifting N and W if those ensembles are correct. What also continue to raise an eyebrow are the lowering pressures across the Caribbean and the Gulf as we head toward late August.

I had not heard this. I heard that the High was forcasted to move westward Wednesday-Thursday of next week.
