Usually, October does not see tropical landfall due to cold fronts. However, major hurricanes have made landfall on the Texas Coast. It is very rare.

Overall Probability For Major Hurricane To Make Landfall In October
Every 70 years

1886 saw two major hurricane making landfall, Indianola and #10, which is a rarity. Major hurricanes make landfall every 10 years on average. So, two major hurricanes making landfall should happen every 100 years on average.

Both occurred in La Nina, based on Multivariate ENSO Index (MEI).
