Re: January: Winter Storm Warning/Light Sleet/Snow/Freezing

I was just thinking about you, Ed. You got your long-lived request. So did I, no work for me today since I'm staff at Alvin I.S.D. Rain mixed with a little bit of sleet in Friendswood.

You just don't see the local NWS write anything like this very often.
A Winter Storm Watch or winter weather advisories may be required late Thursday
into Friday.

Re: January: Arctic Airmass 1/5-8/2014. Hard Freeze Likely

Re: December: Sunshine Returns/Tracking Late Week Arctic Fro

83 burst our pipes. 89 was so cold you really couldn't enjoy the snow all that much. Plus it fell that first day and the rest was miserable, miserable cold.
A nice snow event would be great, but record breaking cold, not so much.

Cold is but one ingredient, TxJohn. Down here we often get freezing temps at the surface, which would lead most to believe snow or sleet. But, the depth of that cold air means everything. We usually have shallow arctic air masses with a warm layer aloft. February 2011 was a prime example of a warm l...

Re: December weather -- Actual Dec weather from the North Po

1983 was many days of freezing temps combined with drizzle. No snow fell except for, I believe Lakeview. Older brother and I were fired up when we watched the noon news before the cold air marched south. It was a Christmas break I'll never forget. One for the freezing temps. Two for the letdown that...
