November 2022
Ready for an actual cold front to come in. Highs near 80 ain't doing it for me.
There is converging shear in cloud movement in CLL. Not sure if there’s enough energy, but buckle up.
I love almost any type of extreme weather events. My least favorite is hot and dry but I do think all time record heat is pretty awesome but I wouldn’t want it to last very long. I could probably deal with all time record cold for longer than I could heat just based on the fact it’s hot here almost all the time and rarely does it get cold.Stratton20 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 04, 2022 12:17 pm I cant wait until we are done with severe weather season, least favorite time of the year
I pretty much already knew for the past couple days that it was gonna be mostly a nonevent for most of SETX.don wrote: ↑Fri Nov 04, 2022 1:02 pm Based on the latest mesoscale models I'm not too concerned with severe weather for the southern 2/3rds of SE Texas. The northern 1/3 though isn't out of the woods yet.Things can change though so I would be watching the radar closely this afternoon/evening to see if the squall line and any discreet storms our over performing or not.

Tornado watch issued for my area, let the fun games beginwe had a close call here in CS a few months ago with a tornado, funnel went right over campus and touched down again in madisonville as a strong EF-2
I just got home, repaired the toilet...and a brief shower as a reward. The cells are isolated, but not a lot of juice. The real action is the line of stronger cells north of CLL from Malakoff to Paris. Another hook echo south of Malakoff.
One of my students was in a room on the 3rd floor on West campus and the building began to shake. That tornado had touched down on Hwy 60 just east of Snook then hopped over on the way to Madisonville.Stratton20 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 04, 2022 6:06 pm Tornado watch issued for my area, let the fun games beginwe had a close call here in CS a few months ago with a tornado, funnel went right over campus and touched down again in madisonville as a strong EF-2
Tornado Watch from Montgomery County northward all the way to the Arkansas/Missouri border. One of the largest watches I’ve seen in awhile.
URGENT - IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED
Tornado Watch Number 561
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
535 PM CDT Fri Nov 4 2022
The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a
* Tornado Watch for portions of
Western and central Arkansas
Northwest Louisiana
Southeast Oklahoma
East and Northeast Texas
* Effective this Friday afternoon from 535 PM until Midnight CDT.
* Primary threats include...
A few tornadoes likely with a couple intense tornadoes possible
Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph likely
Isolated large hail events to 1.5 inches in diameter possible
SUMMARY...A very moist air mass for early November and very strong
winds through a deep layer, including a steadily strengthening
low-level jet across the ArkLaTex region, will support supercell
storms ahead of a cold front. Damaging winds aside, tornadoes will
be possible, a few of which could be strong this evening.
The tornado watch area is approximately along and 55 statute miles
east and west of a line from 15 miles north northeast of Flippin AR
to 35 miles southwest of Huntsville TX. For a complete depiction of
the watch see the associated watch outline update (WOUS64 KWNS
WOU1).
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
REMEMBER...A Tornado Watch means conditions are favorable for
tornadoes and severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch
area. Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for
threatening weather conditions and listen for later statements
and possible warnings.

Monstrous tornado in Istabel, Oklahoma, video footage is scary, its a beast
Friends from SW Austin just called and said “that was a hell of a storm!”
Wow - Major outflow, cold front accelerating through here with straight line wind gust of 40-50 mph. I wonder if that will force the line of storms to hop over us?
Hope damage and injuries are minimal in Akr-LA-Tex. A terrible outbreak of tornadoes.

Looking forward to watching videos of this on YouTube.Stratton20 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 04, 2022 9:48 pm DoctorMu damage is bad, saw several videos of homes that were completely wiped outjust awful to see
You had the outflow already?
Looks like any discrete / scattered pre-frontal cells are falling apart at this point. Instability is down a notch now with the loss of daytime heating. Any rain and action will come from the main line which is becoming linear at this point. I’ll probably get 1/4 - 1/2” and a bunch of junk in the yard.
