Today was hot and dry but with a high DP. No bueno. Allegedly, there is a light northerly bridge. No relief so far.

Well, we saw a classic supercell split over Harris/Montgomery counties a few hours ago. Pretty crazy that the southern flank is falling apart, but the northern one near Onalaska is still holding together.

Anyway, after seeing nothing for so long, I’m grateful for the 0.55” we got today. Hopefully more early next week.

The GFS is beginning to cave to the AIFS. I hope more of us get rain Monday night. I haven’t gotten anything out here yet.

So no one was going to make mention about the tropical system the GFS continues to lift out of the Gulf heading towards the Panhandle of Florida/Central Gulf Coast on its last few runs?

Won’t happen. And Winter weather is more interesting in the south.

What does damming biacy mean?

When i mean cold air damn biacy on the GFS, and its an issue with the Euro as well with arctic airmasses, its a scenario the global models try to build up the arctic air and for whatever reason whenever arctic air travels over the rockies , the models like to weaken the airmass before reaching texas and instead we see these ridiculously cold temperatures in colorado caused by the models trapping the cold air up against the rockies , when you have a 1050+ arctic high driving the cold down the central and western plains, that bitter cold airmass is dropping into texas, it will moderate a little, but global models are very likely underdoing how cold it gets when the airmass arrives in texas

lol give it time, local tv mets will come around, probably not extreme cold, but forecasts will trend cold, same thing for space city , models domt yet have a good grasp on how cold its going to get any or any storm systems crossing the state while the cold air is frying to become established

Are they ever? Especially when it’s a week plus out.

Look like seasonable temps after Monday, except for next weekend and another large surge.

We might get a frost or two up in the Brazos Valley, but we get about 14 on average during the winter seasons. The lowest we've hit is 31.5° at the casa and now freezes at the airport yet.

If the METS are whining about NORMAL temps, then forget them.

I don't seen consistent evidence of a super cold snap here, but yes in the upper plains.

Yeah, this what I'm seeing in the Ensembles and models. Maybe a snowpack north of us forming? Could come in handy later.

For example, in Minneapolis, snow progged on Tuesday and not above freezing for at least a solid week after that.

Small steps, grasshoppers.

Looks like a nice Alaska ridge setting up. Patience.

As long as we can get rid of the 80’s and awful humidity and get some rain around here then I’m happy. I’m hearing El Niño will be here by late next spring into the summer so maybe that will help rain chances and limit the hurricane season next year.
