Get a coastal low on top of the Artic cold and we’ll be going nuts.

Major SSW with a full PV split appears to be happening soon. February could be very interesting.

This winter storm/ cold is likely just a preview of what may be coming in february, when you get such a severe split of the PV like this, its a near lock that february is going to be a cold month across the lower 48

Don't post much but I think the winter loving folks will have had their way once this 10 day forecast plays out. When are we back to 85 degree highs and 65 degree lows? As some call it...Spring? Need 60 degree soil temp to grow pasture grass and crops. Anyone see far enough in the future to see that? Enough of this misery. I need my shorts and flip flop weather back.

Youre going to have to wait until sometime in march, because while we may have a brief warm up in early february ( not even close to 80 degrees ) most of february is looking cold down here , and its quite possible it lingers into march because of whats going on with the Polar Vortex, not that im complaining , keep on bringing the cold!

Stratton, those model runs are from 12z yesterday. What do today’s look like?

Cpv17 Obviously too far out to see the cold on the operational runs, that being said the Euro and GFS both by day 10 have a new - EPO becoming established as well as a rather strong- NAO , but the blocking pattern is there, ensembles look very impressive with the 500 mb pattern , definitely a cold look down here, and potentially an active southern storm track again, ive attached todays 12z ensembles below
