38 degrees here in NW Harris County with light precip now. We'll see what the wrap around offers later. HGX thinks areas further N could have some minor issues regarding some potential mixing. Ground temps are too warm for anything other than some possible travel troubles later this evening into tonight. I did find it interesting that they are concerned about some icing issues (drizzle and a few patches of freezing drizzle) over night from Brenham to Conroe to Cleveland.
HGX:
THE COLD CORE UPPER LOW WILL TRACK ALONG THE NORTHERN EDGE OF THE
CWA THIS AFTN. THE NAM/GFS/ECMWF ALL SHOW ENOUGH COOLING ALOFT
NEAR THE CORE OF THE UPPER LOW TO FAVOR THE POTENTIAL FOR A WINTRY
MIX OF PRECIP TO DEVELOP THIS AFTN MAINLY NORTH OF A LINE FROM
NORTH ZULCH TO GROVETON TO CORRIGAN. THE SOUNDINGS SUPPORT A MIX
OF RAIN AND SLEET DEVELOPING 18-21Z...WITH SNOW MIXING IN AFTER
21Z. THE WINTRY MIX WOULD PERSIST UNTIL AROUND 03Z AT WHICH POINT
THE PRECIP WOULD END. SFC TEMPS WILL BE ABOVE FREEZING AT THE
ONSET OF THE PRECIP AND INTENSITY WILL TREND LIGHTER THROUGH THE
AFTN. AS A RESULT...CONFIDENCE IS LOW ON ANY ACCUMULATIONS. WILL
HOLD OFF ON ISSUING ANY HEADLINES WITH THE THINKING THAT EVEN IF
ACCUMULATIONS OCCUR THEY WOULD REMAIN AT THE ADVISORY LEVEL.
WRAP AROUND LOW CLOUDS WILL PERSIST ACROSS SE TX TONIGHT. MODELS
SHOW TEMPS ALOFT WARMING THROUGH THE NIGHT WITH A STRONG INVERSION
DEVELOPING. LIGHT WINDS AND WET GROUND CONDITIONS WILL FAVOR FOG
DEVELOPMENT AFTER MIDNIGHT. MOISTURE REMAINS DEEP ENOUGH TO FAVOR
DRIZZLE AS WELL...WITH PATCHY FREEZING DRIZZLE OVER THE NORTHERN
HALF WHERE TEMPS DROP TO 30-32 OVERNIGHT. WILL STRESS THE
POTENTIAL FOR LIGHT ICING ON BRIDGES/OVERPASSES EARLY MONDAY IN
THE HWO. THANKS TO WFOS FWD/SHV FOR COORD ON THE WINTER WEATHER.

The Upper low looks to pass over or just N of Austin and continues to track E. Reports of change over to a sleet/snow mix from the Dallas area now. Shreveport area reporting sleet/freezing rain and Monroe reporting light snow.

Where are you located?
I'd ask the same of you, and of wxman666 (and others). Could anyone posting here please update your forum profile to include a general location? It would help a lot since we discuss events that are location-specific here.

You bet...give it a few to update.
Done...should update shortly. I zoomed in a bit too...if you want wider view, let me know. It takes a few mins to send new images to the server. Wish GR3 would run on the server!

It's starting to accumulate good in the areas that I mentioned. With the way the radar is looking up that way, they could see some pretty good totals when it is all said and done.

Srain...
Sorry, I'd have to reconfigure the script that I use. It's a Flash script that reads the images sent to server with name hgx. It's uploading grk images now, but looking for hgx ones. Guess a change that I can make in future so it can view different sites. I'll unzoom hgx, maybe that will help a bit.

No worries. The Cold Core Upper Low will be what could bring any chance of wintry weather this far S. We'll see what unfolds as the day wears on.
