Jeff,
Before you go, are you just seeing rain for us next week?
February 1-5, 2011 Arctic Blast/Winter Storm Discussion
Thanks Jeff.
Ice all melted here. Drying up nicely - not bitter cold 38 degrees! We survived. Thanks for everyone again who posted info last night and today.

Should see all the winter-fun melt over the next few hours. Im hoping my ice covered swing set makes it another night. Holding up nicely now.
Next weeks front should lower temps well back into the 20s, but all precip looks to be associated with FROPA and none after.

I'm thinking we may not get out of the 20's today here in Katy. Almost 2pm and the temp is showing 25 degrees with no sun. Wow.
Thank you Jeff.jeff wrote:over and out folks...going to attempt to head for the house. Need some rest now.

SciGuy has a great blog this morning on the forecast for this winter storm - http://blogs.chron.com/sciguy/
It was the best of forecasts, it was the worst of forecasts...

I'd take surprise snow, freak snow, I'm not picky.tireman4 wrote:That would be a kicker. This was one was watched for over two weeks and a the one coming up..nada and we get hit with snow...goodness.
No rain, no rainbows.
nice work Jeff!! you need a raise....
30 degrees with clouds in Baytown. It's cold.
wxman--- was it moist enough in the snow production layer to produce ice crystals? Several of the model soundings I looked at last night (particularly the RUC) were pretty dry above 600mb while saturated in the lowest few thousand feet. Obviously, the warmer layer aloft was a factor, but I'm curious if that may have been a hindrance to snow as well.

I only managed a high of 31F today - the coldest max of the whole week...

I never got above 30.4F today. I wonder just how big of a drop in temps we'll see tonight?

How many of you would have jumped in the car with this driver last night?! Doesn't look like they were slowing down much...
