Here ye, Here ye--

It is with a heavy heart, big smile and bright future that I inform you folks that over the last several weeks, I have been working closely with the VP of my company for a new weather gig. This past Friday, I was offered and I accepted a weather position in Jacksonville, FL. This is a giant step in my career and a great opportunity to be doing what I love so much. My last day in Houston will be December 3rd.

While I don't know any of you personally (except Mr. T and Steve), I feel privileged to have known you all. The good news is that social media makes it easy to stay in touch. I'm also excited that I no longer have to gripe and complain about deep troughs missing me to the east. I'll be right in the path of them---not that it matters because winter weather in Jacksonville is far more rare than in Houston.

It is often said that ''you can't go home again.'' I know that when I leave Houston, there is a chance I may never return (to live). But Houston is a great city. It's a town full of great people and all sorts of fun weather. I'm not sure where my endeavors will be post Jacksonville, but just know that wherever I am, I will be in love with what I am doing and what I've learned from you all and the folks I work with here at Channel 2 will never be forgotten.

Blake, we wish you well in your new endeavors in Jacksonville, FL. Over the years we have watched you grow and mature into a fine young man and have had a laugh or two along the way. Best of luck to you and remember your login information and drop a note from time to time. As the board continues to grow, our members now are spread from Coast to Coast. Who would have thought that our little Houston Weather Forum that Dan started so many years again would be what it is today. Thanks for all that you have brought to our community throughout the years...

Good luck there in Jacksonville. I'll actually be there next April for the 30th Conference on Hurricanes and Tropical Meteorology:

Maybe I'll see you there?

Congrats and best of luck Blake! You will always be part of the KHOU weather board family which is just a few clicks away.
