Looks pretty stable at the moment.

Good to know my cable company's Emergency Broadcast System is working flawlessly. Apparently, between the hours of 3 and 4 this afternoon they were fine tuning it, because I had to endure a total of four test.
By the third test I thought for sure it was an actual emergency, nope.
Anybody remember the story of The Boy Who Cried Wolf?

Got that test too. Isn't there something about waiting until a good weather day to do that?Cloud2ground wrote:Good to know my cable company's Emergency Broadcast System is working flawlessly. Ready for severe weather season!!
I dont think there is any Severe threat at all...maybe a few strong storms...there is cap inversion. Forecast bust?
Wouldn't call it quits yet. Remember, the severe wx threat has continued to be forecast as an overnight into Wednesday threat.gocuse22 wrote:I dont think there is any Severe threat at all...maybe a few strong storms...there is cap inversion. Forecast bust?
"Tonight: Showers and thunderstorms in the evening...then thunderstorms and showers after midnight. Some thunderstorms may produce heavy rainfall in the evening. Some thunderstorms may be severe with heavy rainfall after midnight. Warmer. Lows in the lower 60s. Southeast winds 10 to 20 mph. Chance of rain near 100 percent."
Ready for severe weather season!!
Btw, anyone else doing the night crew thing tonight? I'll be up watching this stuff tonight.

Looks like all the rain went to Louisiana. Did any of the models show this?
Yup, I wouldn't count it out of the question yet, cap inversion or not.
Appears to be the warm front just to our south, which will be drawn back into our area later tonight, thus enhancing our rain and the possibility of severe.
Just a teaser before the main event.
I'll be on the island and report anything of interest, triple six.Showers and
thunderstorms are still expected to continue to increase in
coverage across our region late tonight as the approach of the
upper low leads to the formation of a surface low to our west and
draws the warm front northward into the region. As the boundary
moves in the risk of severe thunderstorms will increase
tonight...as strong low level winds will support the potential for
rotating thunderstorms and isolated tornadoes

I agree. Just saw the warm front position on TWC's current wx conditions map and it is indeed south of us...almost onshore the coastline it seems but my eyesight is horrible so it's hard to tell. My darn weather radio died. I just put batteries in it yesterday!Cloud2ground wrote:Yup, I wouldn't count it out of the question yet, cap inversion or not.I'll be on the island and report anything of interest, triple six.Showers and

I am a bit glad the forcast has been a bit of a bust when it comes to tornados...flooding ect. I think it's certifiably crazy to wish that on anyone. You know I understand getting pumped about snow and the cold that comes with it but weather that can damage people's homes or leaving folks homeless in shelters...Dont get it? I am thankful for the rain and all that being said I know sever weather can and will happen and when it does I will admit it is fascinating to watch but I don't wish for it and I'm not disappointed when we can dodge a disaster. Drought relieving rain, beautiful snow...great! Tornados, damaging wind, floods, hail, ice storms, drought...no thanks! Like i said, when it does happen it can be cool but speaking from experience, when your in the middle of it...it can down right suck

The radar can ignite quickly! Look at last night, 11 pm had not a thing and then early this morning radar had rain and storms all on it! The main event was always tonight thru tmw!:-)
This event is FAR from over. Today wasn't the main event, that won't happen until the wee hours tonight and tomorrow.
weather101, the threat from tornado's is probably not that great, IMO. But the damage that can come from the flooding rains, which can happen with systems like this, is probably the real damage maker, at least historically around here it is.
No, I certainly don't wish for damage or destruction, but I am fascinated with weather.

Yes, according to HGX, far from over.
(Sorry, not sure how to shrink that)

I'm thinking areas along the warm front (either side but mainly along or south of it) will see the greatest threat for the stronger possibly severe storms. That would be me.
Me as well.redneckweather wrote:I'm thinking areas along the warm front (either side but mainly along or south of it) will see the greatest threat for the stronger possibly severe storms. That would be me.

I here ya C-2-G...Like I said; I think weather is very very interesting. As a matter of fact I was hooked when I grew up in North Texas and saw hail ankle deep and A tornado skip across the school parking lot as we ran to the hall...I was last out because I was watching...ice storms that paralyzed every thing. Then I moved to Southeast Texas and experience floods and hurricanes...Rita 2am when it went to a whole other gear! When you have to endure it, you can not help but be amazed and become a junky...then you look around and see the damage and remember it the next time. But weather is awesome!
Just stating my somewhat pro opinion. I realize what the NWS forecast has. Just calling it as i see it.
Hope you're right. I'd love to see some lightning and moderate rain tonight, but don't need the flooding and any wind damage.gocuse22 wrote:Just stating my somewhat pro opinion. I realize what the NWS forecast has. Just calling it as i see it.
