"Remember, he is talking to Dr Frank...soooo"
I haven't been watching broadcasts. He is talking with Frank? I'll see if I can get the kids off Nickelodeon long enough to watch... I am really curious now....
Dr. Neil Frank is supposed to be on the 11 news at 5 and 6. You can count on him telling you what to expect. No hype... No BS... and no ego. Listen for the words, "we'll watch it". We just don't yet know where, but the where not is kinda obvious. Alex most likely will not be speaking Spanish. A brownsville landfall would be close, so we'll see.
I think Biggerbyte typed this, so I cannot take credit for this.
Hi all,
Just wanted to say that with every storm, I love reading this board. Not sure how you read everything that you do but I love it. Am also relieved that Alex won't be visiting us. Keep up the good work.

Who says that he will not be visiting us, rain? As has been stated before it is not over until is it over.

Well, Dr Frank was not on the 5pm broadcast. Maybe he will be there later tonight....Eiither way after I finish cooking dinner, I am going back to watching swirls and lines.....
Would someone mind taking a stab at discussing the potential effects in the Houston area from a strong Cat 2 or weak Cat 3 hurricane making landfall in Corpus? I remember with Ike the hurricane force winds were felt far and wide because of the sheer size of the storm.
Dr. Neil said he is concerned about how slow the storm is moving and that it's moving more to the north than the west, indicating weak steering currents. Also, the track is widening and that means an uncertainty of the track. He also said it won't take much to shift the storm to the north.
Those are my notes from his appearance on the 6pm news.

Thanks sambucol. I recall hearing/reading that a slower movement would likely result in the storm veering more to the west and away from the upper Texas coast (due to timing related to arrival of coinciding trough I think?). It seems that this may no longer be the case given Dr. Frank's guidance.
