Gulf of Guinea is off the coast of West Africa. The water could be cool or warm. A cooler Gulf of Guinea means less dust from the Sahel region. A warmer Gulf of Guinea meas more dust from Sahel region.

Thanks for posting that data! I'm having a hard time comparing current conditions vs. your excellent data as it's zoomed in. Can you give me a reference point?

For some reason, this forum does not display the whole image. The SSTs compared are this week at this time in their respective years.
