Re: December 2017: Christmas Cold / Ice Across Texas?
While I understand the importance of models to indicate possible and or probable overall changes in the weather, by no means this far out should you give them more credit than they're due. In other words, live by the models, die by the models. They are but just one piece of the puzzle pieces. As we'...

Re: December 2017: Christmas Cold / Ice Across Texas?
I was wondering why it was quiet in here so went and looked at overnight Euro and GFS. Now I know. lol Don't we see the same hype just about every year? Here comes 1983 roaring down the lee of the Rockies, Armageddon is upon us, get ready for the coldest blast since the last coldest blast. I'll bet...

Re: December 2017: Christmas Cold / Ice Across Texas?
Looking back to page 1 of this thread, srain posted a similar graphic about 7 days prior to last weeks snow event. How does it compare (or can it?) to this graphic 7 days out from the possible Christmas pattern? It's all in the depth of the cold that comes down. With severe arctic outbreaks around ...

Re: Christmas Week and the "interesting" pattern evolving
Snow, absolutely incredible to see and I loved it, especially since it was still warm enough that road conditions weren't an issue, at least down in my neck. Ice, freezing rain, frozen black ice, no go. If any of y'all have driven over the high overpasses on the Toll, East Sam Houston Toll bridge or...

Re: December 2017: Pattern Change/Much Colder Weather Possib
It was reported from 4"-6" here in Orange. I had at least 3"-4" deep at my house...and how are people adding pictures? How do you get the file size so small that it accepts it? I have great pictures I could share! I have found this site to be the best for this forum. Yes, you ma...

Been snowing pretty intense for the last hour or so near 528 and I45. Snow covering the grass, roof tops, and trees.

Hope so, I have to get to bed, but wanted to see some snow beforehand. Besides, I probably couldn't fall asleep knowing it may be snowing outside. I will pay tomorrow and the coffee will be flowing.Rip76 wrote:Shouldn't be too long.Heat Miser wrote:Absolutely nothing at I45 & 528 or NASA 1.

Re: December 2017: Pattern Change/Much Colder Weather Possib
Just looked at the radar, can that line sag south? It looks like is trying to. It will slowly sag south. Awesome! Any idea of timing. I know it's hard to predict, but I don't want to go to bed and miss it! Watch to the southwest. Timing, no I can't give you that. And, why didn't this happ...

Re: December 2017: Pattern Change/Much Colder Weather Possib
The main problem for north of Hempstead will be the opposite - cold, dry air. Palestine has snow falling, but it's verga - never reaching the ground. There's a nice band or precip just north of Bryan, but it's not snow yet. I did see some snow and grauple missed in with light rain about 20 min ago....

That's about all i''d like to see really. Having to drive back and forth over the causeway to work daily, no ice or accumulation will be just fine.
