Winter Storm Warning for CS
Based on the trends, I’m expecting those warnings to be issued for counties further south at some point over the next 24 hours.
Agreed.

18Z HRRR is even more aggressive than the 12Z run. It shows the freezing rain turning into sleet,if this trend continues expect winter storm warnings to be issued further south.

Here we go..wasn't expecting that this early since HGX tends to be more conservative than some of the surrounding WFO.
Really annoying how the Houston NWS office seems to usually be a day behind the private mets. Been like that for years. (I've also noticed that for some reason they seem to never issue a Hazardous Weather Outlook in their region, unlike all the other surrounding offices.)
I need to quit wasting time going to their website for anything other than current or short term info.
I haven't noticed similar issues for the DFW or Austin/SA offices, at least not to the same extent. DFW has been pretty close to the private mets on this storm (though to be fair, that was probably an easier call for that area on this particular storm.)
This is accurate.

The HRRR shows a large swath of .10-.25+ of ice accumulation along the I-59 corridor. And its showing freezing rain/sleet all night Thursday into Friday morning. It looks like the ICON was on to something sniffing out the second disturbance as most models are showing it now.

I’m thankful for this board. We knew this was coming long before the masses. Glad we don’t have to get out in the panic buying crowd. Thank you to everyone here for sharing your knowledge with all of us.

The HRRR and some other models are showing mesoscale banding taking place, that will need to be watched as that could allow heavier precip. One note though is the cutoff low/trough is going to be moving close by Friday morning, that could allow a changer over to sleet maybe even some snow flurries depending on how much the column can cool down.

Corpus issued an advisory for their area. Our coastline w/o anything issued sticks out like a sore thumb now! I expect that to change seeing latest modeling...
