Re: February Weather. Severe Threat/Arctic Blast/Then Snow?

Morning all...gotta love it for those that love the cold and what's to come. :D Radar is tracking a few cells with hail signatures it appears...wouldn't be surprised to see some local reports of pea/dime sized hail with this line that's approaching quickly. http://wx.apxsolutionsinc.com/wxradarbaser...

Re: February Weather. First week Interest?

Not a lot of time as I have a meeting in a bit, but the 12Z GFS is suggesting a stronger secondary short wave to follow after the front passes. That feature would likely move past in the Thursday/Friday time frame if the GFS is correct. This is what HGX was concerned with this morning as well in th...

Re: February Weather. First week Interest?

Well, those overnight model runs really cleared things up, didn't they? Considerably warmer for the Euro in the 00Z run (about +14C at 850mb). I guess we'll have to wait until Sunday or Monday to really have a good handle on Tuesday or Wednesday. Models flopping around like a fish out of water. :lo...

Re: January Weather Discussion: Heavy Rain/Storms Then Cold

Remember newbies, Wxman57 always ( Dan toooo) said practice patience. Especially in winter when everthing has to be "just" right for wintery precipitation. Newbie here for sure. I've got all the patience in the world. Besides, I had my frozen precip experience about 1/2 an hour ago,...

Re: January Weather Discussion: Heavy Rain/Storms Then Cold

is Houston's chances for getting some wintry weather around the 1st of February getting better or worse j/w thanks It's a crap shoot Mr. W. As wxman said, the models sometimes struggle in this time frame, so it's difficult to say which way it might go. The only thing that I've noticed is that there...

Re: January Weather Discussion: More Arctic Air Here Jan 20

we have VERY light sleet in louise, tx, at 6:39 am. Morning...yeah, see some returns down your way on radar. Looks like a small area moving around the trof axis offshore. Areas South/SW of Houston might see some light sleet if lucky as well. I've moved my radar on my website to see it better. hey, ...

Re: January Weather Discussion. Severe Threat/Cold Blast Com

Sat WV imagery showing a drying pocket from ULL SWWD. Looks like NTexas might have a break/slow down in precip from what I'm seeing. However, WV showing moisture increase and some IR precip around TX Big Bend area...will be interesting to see how overrunning might play out.

Re: January Weather Discussion. Severe Threat/Cold Blast Com

Can you shift your nexrad view to the Austin Area, Paul? Srain... Sorry, I'd have to reconfigure the script that I use. It's a Flash script that reads the images sent to server with name hgx. It's uploading grk images now, but looking for hgx ones. Guess a change that I can make in future so it can...

You bet...give it a few to update.

Done...should update shortly. I zoomed in a bit too...if you want wider view, let me know. It takes a few mins to send new images to the server. Wish GR3 would run on the server!

Surface low really wrapped up tight...on radar, just offshore Bolivar and rapidly moving E/NE it appears.

...just over .56" so far L City and recorded 35 mph wind gust.

SRain or others...what are peoples thoughts on mid-week and the modeled cooler surge coming down? Meteo's seem to suggest some precip and poss SW moving through, but looks lower levels relatively dry.

Re: January Weather Discussion. Severe Threat/Cold Blast Com

Morning to all My station here in League City has recorded a wind gust of 35 mph so far. I've got Allison House feed on GR3 radar as well and it looks like the squall line is building North as well towards Houston area with nice bowing features. It also shows a pretty much definite TVS/waterspout of...

Re: January Weather Discussion. Severe Threat/Cold Blast Com

Randy, agreed here, but the dynamics of this whole system are still in question, especially placement of the approaching H5 and surface low formation. While it does appear too warm for any frozen stuff, I wouldn't rule out later in the day Sunday. Only reason I mention this is the noticeable WV/mois...

Re: January Weather Discussion. Severe Threat/Cold Blast Com

Thanks...have followed you on the Storm2k site as well...great insight into things. I'm really trying to learn more of the model readings,...
